PhD student at the University of Wageningen. Working on Synthetic Biology and more specifically developing tools for genome editing of Pseudomonas putida.
Today, I have given a seminar about recombineering tools for the Molecular Environmental Microbiology Laboratory of @vdlorenzo_CNB at CNB-CSIC, who set the basis of this technique in P. putida and supported my work since the beginning. It has been a pleasure!
What happens when one undresses the surface of P. putida? That now you can redress cells with your fav apparel 😃 Emerging properties of a surfome-streamlined Pseudomonas putida strain https://t.co/dVGTI8QTxt
All computational people do is press keys on a keyboard all day. I'm building a startup to automate them so they are freed up to do real work. Huzzah!
(sarcasm translation: stop saying all bio/chem/etc people just brainlessly move liquids around in pipettes).
Our SevaBricks are out! Very happy to share this platform and system with the world. Congratulations to @damalas@ChrisBatianis and @MMartinPascual and thank you to @vdlorenzo_CNB for all the help and support. https://t.co/gaFbSRbZRJ
One decisive step towards interoperability of all plasmid assembly & deployment systems! Enjoyable collaboration with my Greek friends @damalas & @ChrisBatianis other folks of the @SSB_WUR
A convergence of 2 of the main standards in SynBio. Total fan of the system for its simplicity and efficiency! Very happy to see it out! SEVA 3.1: enabling interoperability of DNA assembly among the SEVA, BioBricks and Type IIS restriction enzyme standards https://t.co/m7LUV9ALfw
Very proud to announce that @EmPowerPutida made it to the top 10 of KETBIO projects. Make an impact and vote for the most innovative EU biotech project! Sign in and vote for EmPowerPutida! https://t.co/r79M4NNZmB

Our Science & Society paper about Genetic Safeguards and Safety-by-design is now out in @TrendsinBiotech! Big thanks to all my coauthors from the SynBio+Philosophy convergence team!

@sama Hi Sam. Can you please provide an email where we can send our project ideas as you proposed at your blog?we have a very interesting synthetic biology application we'd like to propose.
@elonmusk Perhaps you could fund a clinical trial for #chloroquine against #covid19. Or support #remdesivir trials? As a synthetic biologist I have some out of the box ideas of my own that you cound suport as well.
What a better way to kick off our @SSB_WUR twitter account than by presenting the new paper of @ChrisBatianis@damalas & @MMartinPascual in a collaboration with the lab of @PabloINik about our great CRISPRi toolbox in P. putida. Congrats!

@vdlorenzo_CNB@NKrasnogor Other than biology being analog and not digital, biological systems work in parallel while electronics work serially. In electronics one input has one output in one cycle. In biology one input has several effects on many systems without looping.
