Flexport's team was able to reverse engineer the formula the Administration used to generate the "reciprocal tariffs."
It's quite simple, they took the trade deficit the US has with each country and divided it by our imports from that country.
The chart below shows the predictions of this formula plotted against the actual new tariff rates.
I'm not sure people understand how important this is:

Ratan Tata, Zakir Hussain, Manmohan Singh—2024 has taken three towering personalities from us. Though this post isn't about death itself.
That inevitable end comes to us all, regardless of fame or achievement. When public figures pass away, they naturally inspire collective mourning. Yet the grief for these three luminaries feels distinctly different—more intimate, more personal.
Ratan Tata and Manmohan Singh's departures feel like losing beloved family elders, while Zakir Hussain's passing feels like losing an older brother.
What makes their loss feel so personal?
I pondered this deeply.
The answer possibly lies in an observation by New York Times columnist David Brooks in his book "The Road to Character": we all possess two types of virtues—résumé virtues and eulogy virtues. Résumé virtues reflect our professional achievements and external success. Eulogy virtues reveal our inner character, kindness, and empathy.
These three individuals possessed not only remarkable résumé virtues but were also genuinely good human beings. This is why their loss touches us so deeply.
Their lives offer a vital lesson for the younger generation: reach for the stars, pursue your career, strive for accomplishments—but never at the expense of being a good person.
In the pursuit of greatness, character remains your most faithful companion.
For while people may recognize you for your success, they'll remember you for your humanity.
