Canada peacefully coexisted with the US for a long time. We had a normal trading relationship—they bought our stuff, we bought their oil at a great discount. It functioned as an unofficial 51st state with its own culture, quirkiness, a touch of socialism, and infinite politeness. Things were great.
Then Trump decided to make America great again and started treating allies and adversaries alike. For reasons that still escape any thinking person, he went nuclear on Canada. Canada's dependence and friendly coexistence with the US suddenly proved to be a liability.
So it decided to diversify away from its former friend and started seeing other people. The US is now behaving like an abusive ex-boyfriend who beat his girlfriend; the girlfriend started seeing other people, and now he's threatening her with further beatings if she doesn't stop.
We are - through the hands of our president - becoming pathetic.
One of the things I love most about my husband, is his WISDOM...
And to think I have unlimited and unreserved access to this resource, is mind-blowing!!
Well...
I do have to pay in kind here-and-there 👀
But tooooootally worth it! 😁
It’s amazing how many Americans and Canadians are angry at Canada’s PM visit to China. But what is Canada going to do? Trump has made it clear he has zero interest in working with Canada. Yesterday he said there is nothing Canada produces that the US needs and said Canada has been “very nasty in trade with the US”. If POTUS doesn’t recognize the importance of the US Canada relationship and is willing to throw that away, the only natural response from Canada is to pivot to someone else. China is already the top trading partner with 120 countries around the globe. Canada also is home to many of the most vibrant overseas Chinese communities in the world. The partnership and vision of Canada and a China working closer together only makes logical sense. One trade deal proposal would see Chinese EVs come to Canada and more Canadian seafood going to China. It’s a win-win for both countries. In these crazy times of geopolitical chaos, the world needs to work together and prosper. As we’ve seen in 2025, trade wars and tariffs fail and are not sustainable in long term. Kudos to Carney for seeking more opportunities to help Canada in the future
Can't believe I used to enjoy listening to that Charles guy's analysis back in the days. Must have lost a lot of brain cells doing that, should have been a superhuman by now.
“I’ve withdrawn my support for the Super Eagles, whether they win AFCON or not, I don’t care. It’s your money but you’re disgracing the country by protesting for your money where you’re doing it.”
- Charles Anazado slams the Super Eagles for protesting for their unpaid bonuses.
I saw a tweet yesterday that confused me a lot..
So this lady said she was on a call with her man at night, he told her he was tired and wanted to sleep cos he had a long day, they said goodnight and the ended the call. He then woke her up with a call by 2am telling her he just got into an accident and from the way she framed that part, it seemed she was irritated by the call..
Someone quoted and called all the ladies in the cs out, cos they were more concerned with why he was out after “going to bed” instead of his well being and safety and they started dragging her oh.. is this how bad relationships have gotten?
Am I just a monster? It's been 4 years since I became a father and I'm beginning to fear for my soul. The truth is I just don't like being around kids for very long. Historically, this is not uncommon among fathers, but today it feels almost illegal. It's causing me a lot of confusion and anguish.
The ideal amount of time I would like to spend playing with my kids is probably about 70-140 minutes a week—roughly ten minutes each day, maybe 2x/day, taking breaks from work. My feelings of love toward them are perfectly strong, but if I have to watch them or entertain them for more than about 10 minutes my blood starts to boil. I just want to be working, or accomplishing something. I try to be grateful, but it doesn't work.
It's 9 AM this morning, Saturday, January 3. It's a sunny, warm day here in Austin, and my four-year-old son is begging me to play catch in the street. I was drinking coffee, still waking up, so I didn’t really feel like it, but at this age his desire to play is insatiable. He begged and begged, so I conceded, and with a smile. I have no problem being a kind and loving father, the problem is only that I do not enjoy it. It's not that I'm trying to maximize my personal pleasure; it just seems wrong that I experience so little delight when my dad friends all claim to experience so much.
It was beautiful. We live on a picturesque, tree-lined block. I am even relatively relaxed from the holiday rest. Playing catch with your son is supposed to be an iconic, peak experience. Yet for every single minute, on the inside, I just don't want to be there. I want to be drinking my coffee in peace. Then I feel guilty and absurdly ungrateful, and ashamed, when we're done. I know that when he is a teenager, I'll long to have these days back. I have all of this perspective rationally, and I've been very patient and steadfast trying to digest it, but nothing fixes me emotionally.
Am I a terrible person? Or is my feeling within a certain range of historically normal and it's modern parenting norms that are off? Whether it's my fault or not, I don't even care, I just want to figure this out. Something is wrong and I no longer have the excuse of being new to this.
I cannot believe how many men in the comments are telling him this is normal.
Is it normal to not want to play with your kid every single time they ask?
Yes.
Is it normal for your “blood to start boiling” if you have to play with your kid for more than 10 mins?
NO.
Is it normal to want some time to yourself?
Yes.
Is it normal to only want to play with your kid “10-20 minutes” per day?
NO.
Is it normal to want to work/do things that don’t involve your kids?
Yes.
Is it normal to always want to do literally anything other than play with your kid?
NO.
Is it normal to not be fully present and engaged every single time you play with your kids?
Yes.
Is it normal that when you’re playing with your kid “on the inside, for every single minute, you just don’t want to be there?”
NO.
You asked so I’ll tell you:
The things you are feeling and describing are not normal.
A lady has called out the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu, for allegedly failing to acknowledge her provisional request that would have allowed her to write her exams despite her impaired vision. She also claimed the staff were rûde in their response, even after she had informed the management several times before the exam and again during the examination.
