When 19-year-old Dairy Queen manager, Joey Prusak was serving a blind customer, he noticed the man drop a $20 bill.

The woman behind the blind man grabbed the $20 bill and put it in her purse.

Prusak then instructed the woman to return the money. After she said no, the teenager made her leave. “I told her, ‘Ma’am, you can either return the $20 bill or you can leave the store, because I’m not going to serve someone as disrespectful as you.'"

The woman left. But then, Prusak returned to the blind man and gave him $20 of his money.

Sergeant Colin Ismail Arslanbas, a Reconnaissance Marine with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, lost his life during a nighttime High-Altitude High-Opening (HAHO) parachute training exercise near Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was 23 years old — promoted to the rank of Sergeant just 17 days before the accident, and was preparing for an upcoming overseas deployment when the parachute mishap claimed his life.

Assigned to the elite Maritime Special Purpose Force (MSPF), Arslanbas had earned some of the most demanding qualifications the Corps offers — Army Airborne School, Military Free-fall School, and SERE School — achievements that speak to a young man who relentlessly pushed himself toward excellence. He enlisted in March 2020, and in less than four years had built a record that most servicemembers spend a career pursuing.

What makes his story particularly poignant is what he was carrying beyond his mission gear: his wife Gracen was expecting their first daughter at the time of the accident. A husband, a father-to-be, a Sergeant — all within the span of one extraordinary and too-brief life. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation honored his family, ensuring his sacrifice was not forgotten.

We honor Sergeant Colin Ismail Arslanbas — the Marine who chose the hardest path, gave everything he had in service of his country, and left behind a family, a daughter who will know her father through the stories of those who served beside him.

A 54-year-old Eagle Lake woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Friday afternoon, August 7, 2026 in the Davenport area.

At around 12:16 pm, deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched along with Polk County Fire Rescue, to the crash on Ronald Reagan Parkway near Portofino Way.

All eastbound and westbound lanes were closed down due to the two vehicles coming to a stop on opposite lanes of travel.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals.

The driver of a 2022 GMC Terrain suffered head trauma; she passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The driver of a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder, a 31-year-old man from Haiti, received minor injuries.

Based on evidence and witness statements, PCSO Traffic Homicide detectives have determined that both vehicles were in the inside lane of westbound Ronald Reagan Parkway prior to the crash.

The witness said that the Pathfinder began transitioning to the outside lane when it suddenly swerved back to the left and crashed into the side of the Terrain. The vehicles deflected off of each other and then slammed together a second time. This caused the vehicles to deflect from each other a second time and they traveled separate directions.

The Pathfinder came to a stop after slamming head-on into an oak tree on the north side of Ronald Reagan Parkway. The Terrain came to a stop after it also slammed head-on into an oak tree, but on the south side of the roadway.

The roadway was shut down in both directions for approximately three hours.

No criminal charges are anticipated, but the investigation is ongoing. However, the driver of the Pathfinder was taken into custody and is being held for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
