Rescue me from the person who tells me of life and omits Christ, who is wise in the ways of the world and ignores the movement of the Spirit.
(Eugene Peterson)
The wisest people I know tend to ask great questions, listen well, and embody the idea of being "slow to speak". Literally - you can watch them process things before speaking - when they do, it's always worth the wait.
I am not one to be provocative, but I find complementarian readings of Rom 16:1-7 - Phoebe was just the delivery lady, Junia was a dude, Prisca was Aquila's helper - to be thinner than a French crepe & about as convincing as vows of fidelity at a Trump family wedding ceremony.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s ok to take a season to heal.
The mission will continue.
You won’t be left behind.
A healthy soul is better than warped mission.
No spiritual discipline can make God love you.
It’s too late for that. God already loves you.
But spiritual disciplines helps us to live in God's love, and offer it to others.
