@SimoRoth I sometimes wonder what the internet would’ve been like if TV hadn’t come first. Years of being soft conditioned to be judgemental about whoever’s on the other side of the screen
@OhCarson Totally. There is more great music being made today than at any time in human history. We just need to step outside our bubble (of people who already share our tastes) to find it.
@RomerosSoldier Now that she’s submitted her dissertation, and is job-hunting, I’ll be able to put some more time into the game, and also talking about it. Sorry to keep you waiting so long between updates.
@RomerosSoldier Short answer: yes
Long answer: I’ve been working a non-dev job for a while, which hasn’t left a lot of time or energy to do much dev work, in order to pay the bills while my partner completes her teaching degree, but I’ve been doing bits and pieces on the game. Sometime soon...
@flammablemoth Twine for making interactive fiction with minimal effort and zero coding, and PlayMaker in Unity sounds like it would be ideal for you, but there’s other visual scripting tools out there.
@CynicalPleb I'm not sure, depends on when I can find time to work on it. My day job has been exhausting, and hasn't left we with much spare energy for the last few months. I'm still hoping I can get a more complete version out later this year and dedicate more of my time to the game.
Not had much time for coding lately, but here's Easter, and a rewrite of my constructor class. This is all the basic object types ready for action. #gamedev
@swaps_game I’ve had some health problems lately, and I’m trying to job myself out of a financial hole, but I’ll hopefully be back to a regular development routine soon. I’ll start tweeting again as soon as there’s something to show.
@swaps_game Yes, expect I haven’t had much time for development lately, and the little time I do have is mostly spent rewriting my core systems because they’ve gotten a bit unwieldy.
Been a bit too busy paying bills lately to do much work on The Hit lately, but I managed to find a free weekend. Driving mode is starting to come together, so traffic and navigation should be in the next update #gamedev#indiedev
Oh, shopping means that you'll be able to walk into any shop in the city, pick up any item in the store, take it to the counter and buy it. Every damn thing's gonna be interactive in my game. #gamedev
Dammit! I left one of my navigation helpers in that scene. So... if you play the new build and encounter a mysterious white cylinder, it's a special secret agency thing, okay?
Anyway, I'm done looking at screens for the day. Also I'm broke, and considering taking a hiatus from development so I can pay some bills, so if anyone out there is feeling flush and wants to help me out with this little project, please buy me a coffee https://t.co/30HjyuX8tT
An idea I've been working towards is that the player should be able to buy a tin of beans from a store, then find and kill their target with it. I'll also put gun shops in, and illegal gun dealers, but beaning your target to death is totally going to be a thing #gamedev
There's a new build (and an updated free version) up on itch. I'm working on adding shopping to the game, for both the player and NPCs. Gotta buy those guns and groceries someplace. Also: some of the character models I nearly used (or did/will use). https://t.co/eUHv1K7hKc
@paniq I haven't looked at that in years, and never made it all the way through. I'll pick up a copy someplace and have another go. I'm partly doing this so I can understand structures in serialised, quickly turned out TV, as well as building up a large (and hopefully useful) dataset.
I'm not using 24 because it's great TV btw, but because it's morally simplistic, with shallow characterisation and plots which repeat from season to season (and sometimes episode to episode). In other words, the ideal corpus for procedurally generating videogame plots.
