This afternoon's 6.1 earthquake near Cuba was picked up by the Westport, Connecticut seismograph a few minutes after the quake. The pulse of green at the bottom shows the arrival of the surface waves.
It's unlikely to have been felt by anyone in CT, but it's cool nonetheless!
"Welcome to my old neighborhood." Our @NASAArtemis II astronauts woke up on the sixth day of their mission to a special message recorded in 2025 by astronaut Jim Lovell, the pilot of Apollo 8.
If schedule holds, these 3 giant rockets will launch in the next 3 weeks.
From left to right:
New Glenn - satellite launch now, planned for the Moon
Starship - test flight 12 now, planned for the Moon
Artemis - to the Moon and back with 4 crew aboard
Pushing the very edge of our capability as we learn how to more safely & cheaply reach space, to explore all that exists beyond.

Did you see the #fireball or hear the boom?
Residents around Cleveland and Pittsburgh reported a bright #meteor streaking across the sky this morning and our satellites caught it! The Geostationary Lightning Mapper (#GLM) on @NOAA's #GOESEast (#GOES19) 🛰️ can occasionally capture the bright flashes of exploding meteors (#bolides) as they appear similar to #lightning flashes!

I know it's somewhat of a wide range, but I'm thinking 8"-14" of snow in Connecticut is a solid starting spot before any adjustments are made in the next day or two. @insider_ct
We may see northern lights in the sky within our local area tonight. Check out this link also from the Space Weather Prediction Center for the aurora forecast, which shows the viewing line within the local forecast region, https://t.co/fQab57qST6.
Another time lapse of the solar particle event last month. I accidentally captured parts of the window frame but I think it adds to the ISS feel. Nikon Z9 | 14mm | Nov 12, 2025.
Immense planning and technical precision was required for this absolutely preposterous (but real) view: I captured my friend @BlackGryph0n transiting the sun during a skydive.
This might be the first photo of it's kind in existence. See a video of this moment in the reply 👇
From the National Hurricane Center:
Melissa has made landfall in southwestern Jamaica near New Hope with estimated maximum sustained winds of 185 mph (295 km/h) and an estimated minimum central pressure of 892 mb (26.34 inches).
This has to be one of the most incredible and terrifying satellite loops that I've seen in a while. You can see 5 violent mesovorts spinning around the eye of #Melissa this morning.
Third pass through Melissa. GoPro in side window as different camera looking forward shooting in ultra high res 8k. Not sure when that might get processed as the file turned out ridiculous. Barely had HD space for it and MacBook Pro promptly chocked when I tried to edit it
The Statue of Liberty Earthcam captured the fireball from a likely meteor streaking across the north/northwest sky over NYC at 7:15 Wednesday evening. The American Meteor Society received hundreds of reports from the Northeastern U.S.
