Have seen a huge number of these out here in FL - the Chrysler Pacifica. The humble minivan. And it made me think about how everyone is so SUV obsessed in the UK/EU. Usually people talk about how the reason they buy a big SUV is because it’s more practical and they can fit three car seats across the middle row and that’s fair enough - most equivalent estates can’t do that.
But big SUVs can only do this because they’ve got huge, far wider than say a 5-Series estate. But what about the humble MPV like the Pacifica? This is a great looking vehicle, seats up to
8, acres of room, some really clever family related features and not even that pricey.
The death of the estate car is bad, but I’d say the death of the MPV is even worse as it gave a proper, viable alternative to the SUV with lots more positives.
RIP the Espace, S-Max, Galaxy et al.
