A Somali referee who is due to officiate at the World Cup has been denied entry to the U.S. after “vetting concerns” emerged upon his arrival in Florida over the weekend.

Omar Artan arrived at Miami International Airport on a flight from Istanbul on Saturday but was barred from entering the country following a “routine” inspection, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed in a statement to The Athletic.

Artan, the 2025 Confederation of African Football men’s referee of the year, is one of 52 referees handpicked by world governing body FIFA for the tournament.

@Tim_Titanium @lisa03865019 Not really. If you have a high volume scorer, you need to surround them with high volume creators. If your 9 is not a high volume scorer, you make sure to share the goals around.
We have only 1 consistent creator in the team. Getting a high volume scorer won't help us much.

@lisa03865019 @Onenonli772 @timstillman_ My only concern with Cerci is whether we intend to use her wide and how well she'd adapt to that. We need goals and she has them. I would bet on her overtaking Stina in the pecking order up top (this is from someone who has always rated and defended Stina).

@lisa03865019 @timstillman_ I think that there is the problem. Michelle right now comes with an "IF she recovers well". It makes sense to offer Stina a contract (I assume it's a 2 year deal). This doesn't really block Agyemang's path but rather buys her an extra year (or 2 if all is not so smooth).
