@1ssve I used to schedule my 2am emails for 9am because I didn't want people to think I just worked and didn't have a life even though I just worked and didn't have a life. 😅
@pharmst@kisstheblade_ It really does. She isn't asking to clear out yard debris or a garage, lol. It's weeding. Be in the sun, dig in the dirt, have some lemonade. All good things. Now if it becomes non-reciprocal, that's another story. I would have a nice lunch ready.
@credealjunkie We got locked down Androids. No social media, and they can't install apps themselves (12 & 14). This way they can walk around with custom cases and text friends, take photos, etc, but not be exposed to all the other stuff. The phones are time limited and checked. So far so good.
@AnthropicAI The language is always so careful. A possible path is not a path. A possible path is a vibe of a path. They have "concepts of a path" you could say.
@benglickenhaus Agree. That's why people writing about this need to do better research into how LLMs actually work. I don't think they are conscious but not for the reasons he argues. Why are things like this being published by people who clearly don't understand the technology?
@kingdangerously Yup. This is a bad article due to its poorly argued case. I am tired of non technologists writing about AI when they clearly haven't spoken with any technologists. It's out of control. Ezra Kline's latest "AI could fix the IRS" piece is equally weak.
@cammakingminds If Claude pushes back it's usually something to consider. When GPT does it, it's something it made up and then spends multiple turns attacking that thing you didn't even say.
@robertwiblin I don't think LLMs are conscious, mostly because of what we know about embodiment and memory persistence. LLMs are a difference in kind, not scale from conscious beings. However, I agree Chiang doesn't make a compelling case. He is not a technologist.
@feminazzzzi@haussvenuss He's a "very energetic man" lol. Sounds like when I used to say the now 14yo was "exuberant" when I meant couldn't sit still. 😅🤣
@hthieblot Suck. Magazine, funny, good writing. I used it in a list of urls in a widget in a prototype for a VC funding meeting without thinking. My boss lightning sprinted up to my office for me to remove it thinking it was a porn site.
@skdh Ugh. He is out of his depth with this performative DOA bill. Muddying the waters to promote himself. This is the last straw for me on my annoyance with Bernie Sanders. He needs to sit down. I'm very tired of non-technologists and their "solutions".
