🚨🇯🇵 Capcom data breach exposes 11.77 million CAPCOM ID records

Capcom says a third party gained unauthorized access to its online account service, exposing 11,774,247 email addresses worldwide.

The exposed information also included:

• Account creation dates and times
• Last login dates and times
• Number of logins
• IP addresses used during the last login

An additional 43 records contained dates of birth, gender, country or region and nicknames.

Passwords were changed without permission on 196 accounts, but Capcom says it has reset them. The company found no evidence that customer-created passwords or credit card information were exposed.

Capcom has addressed the attack method and says its games and CAPCOM ID services remain available.

Customers are being warned about phishing emails impersonating Capcom or related companies.

PHP2Shell: AWS reports an attack attempt four days before disclosure

Amazon says its MadPot honeypots recorded a PHP2Shell exploitation attempt on October 17, ahead of the October 21 disclosure.

* AWS recommends investigating from at least October 17, not just patch day.
* It has not established how the actor obtained exploit information.
* Whether the observed attempts would succeed against real-world systems remains unclear.

Update PHP to 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35, or your vendor’s verified fixed package. Patching does not replace investigation of earlier suspicious activity.
