@CMichaelGibson There will come a time when we have to look at the cost effectiveness ratio of the two options. Assuming the cost of AI to be (or become) significant, economics may force a choice between a physician w/o AI and an AI w/o a physician.
@chrissyfarr The coding system was designed to guarantee that providers never do anything w/o pay, and payers only pay what's neccesary. Even an implant reimbursed as part of a bundle needs a code; complete waste of time and effort. Payer pays the same, providers gets paid same, why code it?
@vkhosla@ZekeEmanuel@AbeBakerButler@nealkhosla@JAMA_current Autonomous AI replacing physicians is a relatively easy Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) analysis to win for the AI solution. Assuming the cost of the AI to be similar in both cases, the autonomous AI will show a cost reduction = cost of the physician; easy win.
That gap does not happen by accident, it reflects a genuine difference in where the technology fits the clinical workflow, where the comparator is weakest, and where payers are most willing to act. 4/4
Health tech founders should read scientific papers as market access intelligence, not just clinical validation. A cost-effectiveness analysis of AI-guided ECG screening found an overall incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of $27,858/QALY, and for outpatients: $1,651/QALY. 1/4

@waltermasterson I May not agree with you on many issues, maybe not on any issues. But it makes me really sad to see a fellow human who has completely lost his survival instinct. Sacrificing your own safety and the safety of your family in the name of inclusion, is just incomprehensible.
Our partner @dangelvan explains how, during the last stretches of our #HorizonEU project, he has been reaching out to potential partners, funders, and a lot of markets.
