Mumbai’s rising AQI and shrinking green cover are a wake-up call! 🌳🏙️

These pictures from Five Gardens, Dadar today, shows how much citizens value accessible public green spaces. Yet, as the city loses greenery to relentless development, where will Mumbaikars find shade and relief from rising temperatures?

@mayor_mumbai must act now:
🌿 Protect existing trees and open spaces.
🏞️ Keep Layout Open Spaces (LOS) and Recreational Grounds (RG) genuinely green—with natural grass and permeable surfaces, not artificial turf.
🌱 Recreational Grounds on Mother Earth, not on podiums!
🌳 Create accessible parks within residential and commercial neighbourhoods to help combat the urban heat island effect.

Green cover cannot exist only on paper or on the city’s outskirts. Mumbai needs living greenery where people live and work.
