In the first of a new series where we sit down with the scientists behind the Convex Seascape Survey, we chatted about Adam’s career to date and what he’s working on at the moment ⬇️
Q: What is the focus of your work?
A: Based in Exeter, UK, my work focuses on the impact of human disturbances on seafloor animals.
Q: How did you get into marine biology?
A: My journey began with researching coral reefs in Saudi Arabia and led to a PhD on microplastics in marine ecosystems. My research has won numerous awards and influenced global plastic pollution legislation.
Q: What are you working on as part of the Convex Seascape Survey?
A: I’m exploring how seafloor animals contribute to carbon cycling and climate change mitigation.
Q: What are your passions?
A: I’m very passionate about innovative solutions to environmental issues, I also enjoy SCUBA diving, photography, and sharing my research adventures and scientific knowledge with diverse audiences.
