Following ppl from high school like hi 👋 long time no see I’m still a mess and my hair still changes color every few months. In the 4-6 years since you last saw me I learned how to ride a longboard and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in writing fanfiction.

The first-ever Sunset Night Market is coming Friday!
Friday Sept. 15
5p to 10p
Irving Street (between 20th and 23rd Ave)
“The much-anticipated Sunset Night Market will include…Asian foods ranging from boba tea to beef noodle soup to ube pies, along with a performance stage and…games.” — article in SF Standard: https://t.co/Go6hMKmKMQ
Why a Sunset Night Market? We have a lot to fix in San Francisco, with public safety and our local economy at the top of the list. A vibrant night market reclaims the street and makes it safer. A night market focused on neighborhood businesses helps rejuvenate the merchant corridor. And we need to celebrate joy in San Francisco. Joy is the antidote to the doom loop narrative.
I was inspired by the night markets in Taipei that I enjoy every year when visiting my husband’s family. But the Sunset Night Market doesn’t replicate what’s in Taipei. Our night market will be uniquely San Francisco and celebrate the Sunset community.
September 15 is the pilot. It’s just the beginning. The goal is to learn from the pilot and then improve upon the idea with more night markets. I envision monthly night markets in different areas of the Sunset, each with ever-evolving themes.
While food will always be a draw, the Sunset Night Market will also be about entertainment, games, arts & crafts, and community building.
On September 15, there will be three stages with musical acts from 5p to 10p. There will be games for kids. At 8:30p, there will be literal dancing in the street at the intersection of Irving and 21st Avenue with a DJ spinning tunes. Celebrity Chef Martin Yan will do a cooking demonstration.
There will be something for everyone as we strive to create our best San Francisco.
See you there!
Reminder that the average Roman peasant ate a more nutritious diet than you, worked fewer hours a day, got 100 days a year of vacation and feasting time, and had access to free healthcare and HBO
Oops I was supposed to resign from a committee but instead I doubled down on deciding to stay, AND I just turned in my self-nomination for a second committee. Fuck.
God, i love Pearlman 😂 Here is his take on the burning man situation and it's spot on.
Back in the 90's that festival was a different experience. Now it's been taken over by rich people LARPing as hippies for a week.
Maybe while people are trapped at Burning Man is a good time to share some of the disturbingly capitalist hellscape stuff I witness each year from the supposedly non-consumption-based event.
