Husband. Dad. Year 6 teacher. Maths and Eco School lead. QTS @ssfscitt. BA(Hons) First Class Hons graduate @uniofbrighton. Career changer after 23 years. #COYQ
@TeacherTapp I planned to become a primary school teacher but failed my A levels and joined the world of builders merchanting instead. 23 years later, I went to @uniofbrighton part-time and worked full-time - as a TA - for 4 years. After that, I completed my SCITT with @ssfSCITT#ResultsDay
Nearly 18 months in the making, Iโm proud beyond words of my little Eco Council and the wider school community for achieving our @EcoSchools Green Flag award with distinction. I actually sobbed when I received the news ๐
@mrsdavies72 @Teacherglitter@_Reading_Rocks_@jonnybid You must read The Dog that saved Christmas by your namesake @nicolakidsbooks Itโs heartwarming, beautiful and an easy read. The main character is autistic, so will resonate with many children too. My class have adored it each year.
@katieb2510@MrTs_NQTs There's a great webinar called Sustaining Engagement on the @TTRockStars platform in Online Training https://t.co/e2CH8UxMJD It has some brilliant ideas which might be useful too.
@mrbeeteach As a Teaching Assistant:
2016: Year 3 and then Year 4
2017: Year 4
2018: Year 4
2019: Year 4
As SCITT trainee:
2020: Year 5 and then Year 3
As a teacher:
2021: Year 5
2022: Year 5 and DT lead
2023: Year 5 and Geography lead
We then watched this beautiful video https://t.co/Ra4iHuaIEJ from @_AmazingThings and had a wonderful discussion about Jake, the main character, autism, understanding and acceptance and always being kind.
Finished reading this truly wonderful book by @nicolakidsbooks with my class, for the second year running, today.
Some of them cheered when they found out the ending, others shed a few tears.
I still get taken aback by the power of reading.
@MissM_QT We have a weekly school-wide competition. In each year group the class with the most no. of completed mins (out of the sessions set) has an inflatable musical instrument for a week to display, and get to go out to break first. If everyone in the class completes = extra break time
Therefore to support them we should offer the correction with sound buttons written underneath ie bruise . . _ . . Has anyone found an online list/generator that will help me do this. Thanks! #edutwitter#primaryrocks
Interesting point raised in todayโs CPD. Some children spell some words wrong in KS2 because they are trying to spell them phonetically ie brooz instead of bruise.
@GillianKeegan Itโs quite simple, Gillian. Fund schools sufficiently, whilst paying teachers appropriately, and there would be no need for strikes from anyone @NEUnion
