Finally, after twenty days, my sister called.
When I picked up the phone, I could only cry. It felt as if someone was calling from the afterlife.
She said the internet had just come back on, and only now she was seeing the images and the scale of this crime online.
The story of my sister, dearer to me than my own life:
“Sister, do something… please, for God’s sake, do something. Don’t leave us alone.
Darya, they’ve killed everyone. I was beaten too, I’m covered in bruises. I personally know four people who were killed, but everyone knows someone who has been murdered.
Old and young, a man with a cane, even religious people… everyone had come. Qeytarieh was overflowing with people.
Sister, don’t cry… listen to me… they put the bodies in black bags, stacking them on top of each other so families can come and identify them. They still find people who are breathing.
Sister… they’ve started the executions…”
Beeeeep…
The call was cut off. Our phone was being monitored; calling back was no longer possible.
They didn’t let her speak for more than three minutes. Three minutes that took my soul with them.
World, hear their voices.
Their voices come out of our throats.
Hear their voices!
And I say to the Islamic Republic:
Do not touch my family and my fellow countrymen.
Stay away from the lives of our people.
We are countless.
The time of your end has come.
We swear by the blood of our loved ones that this is our final battle — and we will win.
This photo was taken in 2016, the last time I saw her. 💔

I’m devastated. A good friend and dormmate of mine, Amin Pourfarhang, has been sentenced to death after protesting in Iran 😭 He’s one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.
Please share. Visibility raises the cost for the Islamic Republic and may stop this execution!
Hello world can you hear us???
20,000 human beings.
20,000 families.
20,000 loves.
20,000 dreams of freedom.
Ali Khamenei carried out a massacre under digital darkness.
BE THEIR VOICE.

💔 What happened at the Rasht Bazaar in northern Iran on Thursday, January 8, 2026, will go down as one of the most horrific crimes any government has ever committed against its own people.
A large group of civilians was driven into the bazaar through fear and gunfire. They were trapped inside, the entire place was set on fire, and machine-gun fire rained down on anyone who tried to escape the flames to save their lives.
These were ordinary people, protesters, men, women, and children.
How can some of you still defend this regime and try to frame this as the government dealing with “rogue rioters”?
Shame on you. History will not forget you.

I am a woman from a small village in northern Iran.
Jailed for protesting.
Beaten for showing my hair.
Expelled from parliament for exposing their corruption.
Forced into exile.
My sister was paraded on state TV to publicly disown me.
My brother was imprisoned as punishment.
My mother was interrogated to stop her from expressing love for me.
Assassins were sent to New York, three times, to kill me.
And now I’m supposed to sit next to them at the U.N. Security Council.
Thanks @USAmbUN for finally giving me a seat, so I can call out the regime, and the U.N. leadership that still legitimizes it.
This is my full address to the UN Security Council about
#IranRevoIution2026 and a massacre unfolding in Iran.
My dear compatriots,
An invaluable opportunity arose for me to attend the emergency session of the United Nations Security Council and deliver your message the voice and outcry of the brave and noble people of Iran directly to the world’s leaders and regional powers. My purpose was clear: to prevent the distortion of truth and expose the lies and whitewashing of the Islamic Republic’s representatives in this historic meeting.
I was given only seven minutes to speak a brief span of time to express the pain of a nation, yet enough to shout the truth. In those moments, I decided to set aside my prepared remarks and speak from the heart rather than from paper. I spoke of my own experience in the prisons of this criminal regime and of the bloodshed and atrocities still unfolding across our homeland, dark chapters of Iran’s history that would take hours to recount.
After the session, I met and spoke with representatives of the countries that have stood with the Iranian people. On your behalf, I thanked them for their support and emphasized that this solidarity must go beyond words and translate into action. In these dark days, we deeply value their friendship and will not forget their support.
I did all that I could to make Iran’s voice heard across the world. If there were any shortcomings in my words or actions, I ask for your kindness and generosity to forgive them.
