I love hoop, but I'm good on the soap opera.
There are six games left in the season. The guys are playing hard and the games are important. This is pre-playoffs playoffs. This is one of the best times of the hoop year.
But I'm not really seeing much coverage of the games or talk about the players or the season. (Minus MVP race stuffs.)
Instead, my FYP is populated with the Pistons/TMac story, the Ivey story, the Cuban selling story, and now the BClarke story.
Those are all worth knowing about, sure, but man, I wish I was seeing detailed breakdowns of Paul George's return, the wrinkles that have come back to the Celtics offense with Tatum's comeback, the Nuggets Jekyll and Hyde offense and defense, and Julian Champagnie being 6 threes away from setting the Spurs' team record. Shoot, I'd even like to read up on Daeqwon Plowden out in Sacramento.
Don't get me wrong: The big stories pay the bills, keep peopled tuned into network TV, keep casuals scrolling. But...and maybe it's just my For You, I'd love to see more talk about the actual game, see more love for the game, and less of the other stuff.
@RRTHEFAN@BrettSiegelNBA@NahaliZolanski Fans and media have to accept that they’ve ruined basketball discourse by diminishing the importance of the regular season. Playoffs are the most importsnt part of the year but u can’t make the playoffs without a great regular season.
This kid is 21 years old, a top six player in the NBA, openly hates the best team in the league, rushed back from an injury to come off the bench and beat that team in the NBA Cup, met with the Spurs’ fan club on his day off to practice cheers, started a tradition leading those cheers with the entire arena after Spurs wins, and is making a concerted effort to improve the environment and atmosphere at NBA games.
Future face of the league, future MVP, future HOFer, I don’t even know what else to say about Victor Wembanyama. Absolute superstar in every sense of the word.
The Oakland A’s were killed by greed. Do not allow the people responsible for this to spin it any other way. John Fisher did not have to move this team. Major League Baseball and its owners did not need to be complicit in it. This was a choice. A wrong one. History will sneer.
Hearing from @nba peeps @KingJames is the top of the @Lakers list to trade the 39 year old. Pelinka is looking for the right team to dance with and is close to a suitor Lbj and AD both out tonight. @KTLA@KTLA5SPORTS#nba#Lakers
Few weeks into the 15-16 season, I knew GS was winning 73. I knew early on we were witnessing something special. I feel the same way about this Wiz squad but on the opposite end of the spectrum. They could very well be the most unserious team of all time. The potential is there.
