The message near the Bayside Trail says, “I’m so ignorant to think we’d make it out of this thing TOGETHER…or alive.” This just scratches the surface of the despair we all feel knowing there is no ready, short-term solution for unsheltered people here https://t.co/W9Qj93Ydlf

Tell Congress to uphold @POTUS commitment to oppose budget cuts that increase poverty. That means no harmful changes to #SNAP, #TANF, #Medicaid that would take health care, food assistance, and income support away from people and families: https://t.co/Zd3UYRQb8h

The @PrebleStreet Food Security Hub in SoPo makes 2000 meals a day, and if they could they would make hundreds more because the need is so big.

Good news! My Housing First bill, LD 2, just passed out of committee. Onto the full legislature! https://t.co/Hhl3WGMJUB

Site-based #HousingFirst is critical for Maine! https://t.co/lt5FrA9zX0

[Preble Street @PrebleStreet]

When passed and implemented, Site-based Housing First can be used statewide. Because as we all know, homeless homelessness is not just a Southern Maine problem." - Speaker Rachel Talbot Ross #LD2 Site-based #HousingFirst

[Preble Street @PrebleStreet]

"I had the opportunity to visit Preble Street and learn about their pioneering Site-based housing first work which has provided people who have lived in shelters and on the streets for much of their lives with a permanent and safe living situation" -Speaker Ross, #LD2

[Preble Street @PrebleStreet]

"It's clear that Maine is in the midst of a housing crisis. It's a problem that available shelters and transitional housing can't fix alone." - Senate President Jackson, #LD2 Site-based #HousingFirst

[Preble Street @PrebleStreet]

"I have seen the profound impact these programs have on the lives of people with chronic homelessness and complex needs – safety, hope, and the stability of coming home for good" - Ali Lovejoy, Preble Street #LD2 Site-based #HousingFirst

[Preble Street @PrebleStreet]

"What that means is that there is a dedicated #HousingFirst apartment building with onsite, 24/7 professional social work staff providing supportive services and crisis intervention to maximize housing stability and prevent returns to homelessness." - Preble Street ED, Mark Swann

[Preble Street @PrebleStreet]

"Study after study over the past 20 years show that site-based #HousingFirst actually saves communities money.

Once people are housed, and safe, and supported by the onsite social work staff, guess what happens? They improve, they do better." - Mark Swann, Preble Street ED

[Preble Street @PrebleStreet]

"I'm specifically talking about site-based #HousingFirst. If you really want to impact the chronically homeless, the people sleeping outside, in tents, under bridges, huddled in doorways, camping in public parks then it is the site-based model that really makes the difference"

[Preble Street @PrebleStreet]

"Emergency shelters are part of the community public health structure and part of an emergency preparedness structure for our state." - Preble Street ED, Mark Swann
