@19fredricksn There is also a scarlet letter engraved on her tombstone. It’s insane that the scarlet letter never actually disappears from Hester. #FlynnSL
Chapter 24: “the dust of the two sleepers had no right to mingle, even in death.” It’s upsetting that Hester asked Dimmesdale before he died if they’ll ever meet again and he said it's God's decision, but they are separated. I guess they never reunited. #FlynnSL
Chapter 23: I just remembered how Dimmesdale and Chillingworth were talking about taking secrets to graves and how Dimmesdale said if it’s a very deep secret then it’s okay. I just realized Dimmesdale did the opposite of that. #FlynnSL
Chapter 23: I am astonished that Dimmesdale died! At least he received the kiss from Pearl he waited for in the forest. Hopefully he left the earth at peace knowing although he sinned, he still retains the love from Hester and Pearl despite that. #FlynnSL
@19phillipso Yeah, true! Honestly, when did she get the right to try and tell someone else’s daughter that her father is the devil and she’s a witch? #FlynnSL
Chapter 22: I feel like Mistress Hibbins is foreshadowing that Dimmesdale will eventually reveal his secret to everyone. I feel like her prediction might actually come true. #FlynnSL
Chapter 22: Why is Mistress Hibbins telling lies that Pearl's father is the devil and therefore she’s a witch child? Also, why is she hinting to Hester that Dimmesdale will expose his secret? She’s like the second villain in the book, but not as bad as Chillingworth. #FlynnSL
Chapter 21: It's ironic that Hester, when standing on the scaffold for her humiliation, stood out so much in a crowd but now, she blends in like everyone else. #FlynnSL
@ClaireMobed I hope Chillingworth is stepping back too. He does seem, though, too calm and collected while hearing Dimmesdale's words, so does that mean he's secretly planning revenge? #FlynnSL
Chapter 20: I'm glad Dimmesdale is finally getting rid of Chillingworth. He should have did that a long time ago, but still, Chillingworth can (hopefully) stop trying to get revenge on him and Dimmesdale can move on with his life happily. #FlynnSL
Chapter 20: I wonder if Chillingworth will continue to seek revenge after Dimmesdale dismissed him. Chillingworth seems cautious yet calm and collected, but will he get back at Dimmesdale and/or Hester in the future? #FlynnSL
@ClaireMobed I feel like at this point, Dimmesdale and Hester are ready to move on; the townspeople don't care anymore, Chillingworth is more focused on Dimmesdale, but Pearl is the only thing making Hester keep the scarlet letter on her chest. #FlynnSL
Chapter 19: It was rude of Pearl to wash off Dimmesdale's kiss. He's trying so hard to get her to like him while also trying to forget his dark secret, but Pearl has to rub it in his face that he did a terrible thing. She is old enough to stop acting this way. #FlynnSL
Chapter 19: I honestly thought Pearl would like Dimmesdale better. I don't know, but now I'm starting to kind of dislike Pearl. She's so stubborn and a nuisance to Hester, and her attitude is starting to get old now. #FlynnSL
@19godshalls I agree. I would have thought that having Hester being publicly shamed would only embarrass her, but she is so confident and has a positive outlook on life. I also thought Dimmesdale would be better with keeping the secret, but he is suffering so much internally. #FlynnSL
Chapter 18: I'm happy that Hester and Dimmesdale, after all of their suffering, have finally found the light at the end of the tunnel, or in this case, the sunlight that cast upon Hester again. This is probably the most joyful and relieved they've ever been in years! #FlynnSL
