@SrDorcee I’m so very sorry for your loss and for the suddenness of it all. The times many years ago that I spent with Sr. Alice were marked by her kindness and that tender smile. I am praying for you and your community.
We are asked to pray for many people and requests but given the very considerable impact this has had on so many people, could we ask you to dedicate some time to pray for all affected by this story. It does not preempt the result of the forthcoming trial, but the hurt and distress are nonetheless real. @BirgitteUna@MrWillRoss@Danielleshabit@pursuedbytruth@Silvanarscj
Wanting by @lukeburgis was an excellent and highly accessible introduction to the power of René Girard’s ideas.
So I’m excited to read his new book. If it’s anywhere near as good as Wanting—which I suspect it will be—it’s going to be a must-read.

I wrote some of my initial thoughts about Pope Leo’s new encyclical and how it relates to safeguarding and abuse prevention in the Church. Link below, (and drawing by @Danielleshabit)

This video helps us get started evaluating where we stand as Christians utilizing social media. X dot com, for example, is a gift of God, and we're capable of making it "celestial".
I started my present account during 2018's Summer of Shame, hoping to shine light in the darkness of the Catholic cover-up culture that still enables sexual predation by over-valuing wolves and under-valuing lambs. Because the hierarchy treats the abuse phenomenon primarily as a public relations issue, and my views diverge considerably from theirs, I can't use "Father" in my username. There's just no way for a priest to both publicly and officially address priestly sexual predation from my perspective. Further, let's be honest, there's only a tiny handful of Catholics interested in this topic, as evidenced by the small number of followers each Catholic abuse survivor on X (etc.) has.
But the fact remains that clerical wolves are on this very site prowling at this very moment both for lambs and for sheep on the margins of the fold. What are you going to do about that? We need a virtuous, vigilant and verifiable social media community.

With my 25th anniversary coming up in five weeks, I have a specific request to make of those of you willing to help me make a meaningful commemoration of it. I won’t have any party or celebration (other than a private Mass). Instead, I’m asking each of you to consider using whatever influence you have to get the Sisters of the Little Way magazine actively distributed and promoted at your parish, university/seminary, fraternal organization, deanery meeting, etc. Send me pictures of the distribution and I’ll post them with my gratitude. Alternatively, you could arrange discussion groups to listen to their Descent Into Light series, and send me group photographs. I won’t ask you for anything else until my 50th!
