If the committee had put Bama at 13 after it lost its second game, that would have been reasonable and then Bama would not have made it. I have no issues with you saying Bama at 10-2 should be out for 10-2 Notre Dame, but the argument shouldn't include the SECCG imo
Listened to Ari Wasserman say this yesterday, still a stupid thing to say. I would agree, if BYU would have been in had they not played in the BIG12 championship game. But they would have been left out if the game simply didn't exist. The only way they got in was with a win.
If BYU gets left out of the 12 team playoff after playing in the Big12 title game and three teams that didn’t play in the Big12 title game get in, the Big12 title game is over. No one will want to ever play in it again
…or does this suddenly sound ridiculous.
✅Pick a lane
✅stop losing your games
✅shut the fuck about it
I also think if you lose two games you don't really have a leg to stand on if you're left out, it's a dice roll at that point of what the committee decides to value. Just don't lose two regular season games. But yeah, punishing them for losing in an extra game is dumb
Which is correct. In a time when you can freely transfer, get the playing time you need to develop. Obviously, go to the best program you can so you can have enough support to succeed, but if you can get support and playing time at a place, go there.
It’ll actually be 3 in a row if you count Raiola the year before.
These agents are telling these top quarterbacks the most important thing to consider is immediate playing time.
All three were committed to their programs up until it was clear the incumbent QBs would be returning. Then they pivot.
I don't think Sumrall would've been my first choice after Kiffin. Probably would've went Riley and Stein as my next two. But who knows. I liked the Napier hire last time so what do I know.
I thought there was zero shot Sumrall would be in consideration at Florida. Administrations usually don't go back to what failed (completely different coaches, but fans will only see a Louisiana G5 coach). I like it. Probably prefer Kiffin, wouldn't mind Riley, but good hire imo
Florida fans being mad at this is deeply hilarious. Jon Sumrall is about to play for his fourth conference title in four years as a head coach.
To steal a line: He just wins. Google him.
I also have no clue how anyone grades hires. Like 95% of the time it's a complete unknown. There are a few times where a hire will obviously be bad. Even Kiffin I have no clue if he'd do well at Florida. Probably, but who knows. Like draft grades, grade the process not results.
College HCs are asked to be both HC and GM. I think it can work to be a play caller on one side if the school has a GM with complete roster control (not like most GMs in college). You can't be HC, GM, and OC anymore and expect elite results. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see it
Ryan Day, once his own play-caller, realized needed an OC, hired sitting head coach (Chip Kelly) as OC. Won a natty.
Mike Norvell, same situation. Hired sitting head coach (Gus Malzahn) as OC. Likely saved his job.
Billy Napier said nah I’m good.
Well. …
@WillMilesSEC And I'm not saying he is right, it's been 1.5 games, way too small a sample size for any evaluation. I'm just saying even if he is right, it's a dumb way to do it
@WillMilesSEC Using completion % to evaluate any QB is dumb, even if the conclusion is right. A complete statistical profile should be a *small* part of the evaluation, completion percentage being her again another small portion of that. Film should always be a majority of any evaluation.
Have these refs missed a shit ton of holding calls on USF? Yes.
Does that mean you should only be up 1 with them driving under two minutes left. Absolutely not
