Ph.D. candidate in Political Science. BA: Russian, IR, econ. I study support for the Far Right in CEE & attitudes towards refugees. Fencer and clarinetist.
@bryanbehar Yepp. At the media for downplaying Trump, and Americans who voted for that monster. And the DOJ for letting the man lead an insurrection and steal classified documents and just… not rush prosecution. And now we just have to watch this man destroy the country.
@RachelBitecofer Fairly common in authoritarian systems for those who helped in the rise to power to find themselves purged, since they can represent an alternative leader or power center. Would not be surprised to see Elon pushed aside the instant he makes too many demands or too much power
@nytimes If you would have reported his policies and fascism as much as Biden’s age… I hope you enjoy the chaos and horror we will live through. I’m sure it will lead to ratings…
@wylfcen That’s so cool! Never even thought about how old that could be. Literally the only words in that text I can recognize, in the same form 1000 years later
@kevinolearytv You clearly have no idea how tariffs actually work, and how much this would destroy the US economy. Tariffs would not solve the problem of Chinese manufacturers stealing your molds. It would, however, increase YOUR costs of importing goods back in the States, and raise prices.
@NateSilver538 But why? Any model that aggregates data from a bunch of surveys is only as good as the underlying data. Garbage in - garbage out, as it were. The typical thing to do in this situation is to exclude studies that you know are highly flawed, since including them only hurts the model
@jayrosen_nyu That’s insanity. When the Trump-Vance strategy is to lie incesantly, it becomes impossible to fact check on stage. Every lie takes time to counter, which prevents the opponent from putting forth policy. The debate is worthless without fact checking. Not watching this one!
@Collect47 @swoonganz @Irishbrat1966 My family we always 1) add vanilla even if it isn’t called for 2) double the vanilla, and 3) say there is no such thing as too much vanilla. No matter what sweet we are baking, following these rules improves the recipe!
@riceid It is an OBVIOUS breach of ethics to write on a campaign while having a secret relationship with one of the candidates. It’s like dating a student: doesn’t matter how many students they’ve helped: there is a clear breach of professional ethics that disqualifies one from the job.
@cromwellian@RichardHanania This is possible, but if you look at the pre-trends for the same individuals, you see that before starting, the rate of medication is the same as the general population. To me, this disproves the idea that there are selection effects. This isn’t a correlational method.
@kimedieval Honestly, I end up falling behind on my research during periods with intense coursework/TA working. I’ve kinda just accepted that sometimes there isn’t time to do everything, and some weeks will be focused entirely on teaching/classes
@backcuntrybish @mrjimmyhill If it helps, it basically defines the rate of change at a point. Its like if you want to know how fast a car is going. You take distance at the start, distance at the end, and how long you measured. But we are measuring smaller and smaller time intervals.
@Vidor1@mnolangray I would hardly consider the weather here pleasant. Its frequently over 100° during the summer, and rarely drops below 90°. At least with the cold I can wear a jacket! In this heat all you can do is sit inside and run the AC. Spring and fall are amazing tho, and winter is nice.
