@kimberlycaritas My experience (recovering academic): Most Biblical historians accept some big events aren't corroborated externally. But so much depends on the use of history (apologetics, theology, etc.) Lots of fun reading from St. Augustine to Scott Hahn, and that's just within Catholicism!

@shortyman09 De-lurking 'cause 1 person's disjointed theology is another's dynamic understanding of tradition and culture. Ex.: Married priests. TEC/AC says OK on principle, RC no. Yet Rev. Longenecker, etc. are loopholed proof that RC theology in practice is just as supple. Or disjointed?

Like, "Show me your admission letter to a nonselective grad school and a transcript of your first semester, otherwise you're not a theologian like me."
