The dumping of debris on a mural honouring #MMIWG2S at the Brady Road landfill is a grotesque act of hatred.
It’s a reflection of how the lives of Indigenous women, girls and gender-diverse people are constantly devalued.
We are a target. We deserve justice. #SearchTheLandfill
Everyone's favourite #AcademicAunty, Dr. @tungohan is back! The end of this season is looking 🔥 as @AcademicAuntie goes int'l! But first, I get to join the convo. We connect during a challenging season of rejection, to speak honestly abt gatekeeping & grants. Give it a listen ⬇️
Excited to present Do All Roads Lead to the House? on political candidacy and sector employment today @cpsa_acsp. Join me and other #poster presenters at 10:30, ACW 2nd floor lobby. #cpsa2023
Congrats to our @UCalgaryPoliSci PhD student, Dawn Moffat McMaster (@daniloth), on her 2021–22 Dr Stanley Drabek Grad Scholarship & an Alberta Grad Excellence Scholarship-Doctoral! More on Dawn’s work on gender, the nonprofit sector & political candidacy: https://t.co/y7qSKAi4mk
Folks are arguing that since the relationship was consensual, there shouldn’t have been an issue. I provide an answer for why we need to stop using this reasoning, as Tory clearly held power over his former staffer: https://t.co/1Lkh0HNbyR
Things I dreamt about last night:
Organizing my comps reading list by page count; Being unprepared for an indigenous-focused research talk, where I used Inside-out themed graphics. Being a grad student is weird sometimes.
It’s so strange to see public health officials and institutions adopt libertarian phrases. “Wearing a mask is a personal choice” is political phrasing. That’s not a sentence that would ever be used in public health messaging normally. “Brushing your teeth is a personal choice.”
Congratulations to our PhD student, Dawn Moffat McMaster (@daniloth), on winning the @UCalgaryPoliSci 2021–22 Award for Best Grad Paper! Learn more about Dawn & her paper "Do All Roads Lead to the House? Occupation Sector & Electoral Politics in Alberta": https://t.co/mnx36SNkOj
There is so much wrong with the constitutional interpretation in this piece, it detracts from public knowledge. I'm going to my computer so I can tweet with receipts.
Congrats to all our @UCalgaryPoliSci 2021–22 Undergrad & Grad Paper & Thesis paper winners & nominators! Our awards were given out in our first in-person celebration in 2 years—so wonderful to see everyone!
Stay tuned, we'll be featuring each award winner over the coming weeks!
If you're a Black Canadian who has run for office at the school board, municipal, provincial, or federal level at any time in the past 20 years, we want to hear from you! https://t.co/oFJ6Eo8lHk
Booking for the moderna BA1 bivalent vaccine opens in Alberta on the 21st (disregard wrong previous tweet). Booking opens at 8 but some sites start rolling in between 7-9am in our experience. Must be 3 months ago from previous dose, recommendation of 5 month gap from prev. dose.
Dear @RachelNotley@JanisIrwin@DShepYEG We hear so much about doctors & nurses - but admin support is quietly being disposed of. Positions requiring certain skills are now being DOWNGRADED one or two steps to save $$ thx to the UCP. Hospitals can't run without us. SOS! 🚨🚨
Going to an international conference and just got told I couldn’t have my breast pump in a separate bag and @delta said if my child wasn’t with me this wasn’t allowed. Breast don’t stop making milk just because the baby isn’t there -Do better @Delta! @AcademicMomLife@Momademia
@JLisaYoung It may also mean 'firming up' his conservative bona fides so I'm expecting a push on the curriculum changes, anti-union/public sector pieces, and how terrible the feds are.
