Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the Royal Family, the people of the Tooro Kingdom and all those mourning this profound loss.
Jacaranda would also revolutionalize Kira and our other cities. See its element in Harare and Bulawayo! Takes time to grow and bloom (come of age) — will require patience and good care. @Bulamu256
Some people leave a job. Others leave a legacy. @mulekezi leaves both.
Leadership is rarely measured by titles. It is measured by the lives you touch, the trust you build, and the community that gathers when it's time to say goodbye.
Four years of dedicated diplomatic service.
• Countless Ugandans supported through moments of need.
• A farewell defined not by protocol, but by gratitude.
"The true measure of service is not how long you stay, but how deeply you are remembered."

From the Buganda Kingdom to the halls of @Smithsonian and @TRPresLibrary, we are connected by a single thread of shared history: 🇺🇸President Theodore Roosevelt's 1909 expedition to Uganda and its enduring significance. As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, we thank @UgandaMFA, @UgaEmbaWashDC, @ugwildlife, @TourismBoardUg for your commitment to Roosevelt's belief that the measure of a nation is found in its willingness to show up, to be present, to engage, and to build. 🇺🇸🤝🇺🇬

Uganda's natural wealth — gorillas, the Nile, 1,000+ bird species — is already generating jobs. But tourism is punching well below its weight. With the right reforms, it could be Uganda's most powerful tool for employment at scale. Read the blog: https://t.co/cNB3gYnEXm

On the sidelines of #POATE2026, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Australia, H.E. Dorothy Samali Hyuha, joined fellow Heads of Mission, tourism leaders, and key stakeholders in strategic engagements focused on strengthening Uganda’s global tourism positioning and deepening international partnerships.
The discussions, convened by Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the growing role of economic diplomacy, destination branding, digital innovation, and cross-sector collaboration in driving Uganda’s tourism competitiveness globally.
Speaking during the engagement, Permanent Secretary @Tybisa emphasised the importance of stronger coordination between Uganda’s Missions Abroad, @TourismBoardUg, government institutions, and the private sector in expanding Uganda’s international visibility, attracting investment, and positioning the country as a leading tourism destination.
With Uganda welcoming approximately 1.64 million international visitors in 2025, the conversations reinforced the growing global interest in the Pearl of Africa and the need to strategically convert diplomatic presence into tourism, trade, and investment opportunities.
For the Uganda High Commission in Australia, the engagement reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening Uganda’s presence within the Australian market through tourism promotion, strategic partnerships, investment conversations, and authentic storytelling around Destination Uganda.

This evening, I met the task force on epidemics in Nakasero. We discussed the Ebola situation in the region, and we will communicate the way forward. There is no cause for alarm.
“Tong ma oneko Rwot, obedo tong ma ingete”
Loosely translated, it means, “the spear that killed the King was the spear closest to him”
Timeless reminder to be cynical, especially in politics.
