Orkney's fishing sector is not just about fish& shellfish—it's about a deep-rooted connection to the sea. It's about honouring traditions, respecting nature, and preserving a way of life. Let's celebrate the rich heritage and stories that make it so special.
Good to hear about all the work going on around #Orkney at the Orkney Seagrass Gathering last week. So many exciting projects underway or just around the corner! Working hard to make sure our Regional Marine Plan can facilitate projects like this. Thank you @ProjectSeagrass 🌱
Happy #WorldSeagrassDay!
🌊 Today we celebrate and raise awareness of our incredible underwater heroes
🌎 Seagrass is the only marine flowering plant that forms dense underwater meadows. Stay tuned to find out why we love seagrass!

2/2 Never was it suggested that the CNMI should close 57% of its fishing grounds, as @TaotaoTasi explains. This highlights why many researchers are reluctant to discuss their findings, for fear of it being taken out of context...here even with a YouTube video explaining. #scicomm
An interesting and quite bizarre turn of events in the cnmi, as @wpcouncil seemingly pick a random number from my MSc dissertation from @YorkEnvironment five years ago to make claims about @FriendsTrench 1/2
Really chuffed to be starting my next chapter as a Graduate Marine Planner on the Orkney Islands. I'll be working on the Regional Marine Plan which will steer future marine development. Exciting times!
Tiny animals saved from the waves. The sea lion is over 60 years old and the giraffe nearly 50 years old. Both were free in cereal packets. All found on Cornish beaches. #WorldOceansDay#plasticheritage#Anthropocene
Had a great final weekend of two extremes on Arran. 2,866ft climb up Goat Fell Mountain on Saturday, followed by scuba diving 82 feet below on Sunday. It's fair to say this island is beautiful from all angles! #arran
I've been a bit slow tweeting this but I'm very excited to be working for the Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST) as an MPA Project Assistant! An inspiring organisation doing some great work https://t.co/DvkKUdun5a
Today we can celebrate the designation of 41 new Marine Conservation Zones - fantastic news for our marine wildlife 🎉 Tomorrow the hard work of ensuring they are robustly managed, and then well monitored and enforced begins 🐳🐠🦀🦞🐟🐬
