I would argue that Christmas season should not begin until November 12th. But that being said, there is nothing wrong with thinking about it already. Mt. Seymour in Vancouver, BC this morning. #bcstorm#ShareYourWeather
Winter field work is quite interesting. Just finished installing and GPS staking 60 water level loggers throughout the Fraser Canyons over the course of the past several weeks. From closed highways, arced batteries, non-floating phones, and much more it was quite the adventure.
A grim anniversary. On Nov 1, 2018, 90k cubic meters of rock fell into the Fraser River at Big Bar, BC, impeding salmon migration. It led to the most extensive integrated landslide, hydraulics, salmon migration, and genetics monitoring studies ever. @HakaiInstitute@DFO_Pacific
Rigging the floats for day 2 of the Fraser River Canyon data collection trip. Video taken upstream of the Fraser/Thompson river confluence. @LandslideSalmon@VendittiLab@NickOfTheVine
Salmon (I believe Sockeye) seeking a place of rest in a not so restful environment. Incredible sight in the Fraser canyons today! Flows still cranking around 7,800 m3/s as the freshet wanes. @SuperSaetta @VendittiLab
Installing cameras at Hell’s Gate in the Fraser River to study flow dynamics and #salmon migration with @SuperSaetta and @danmurph97. There is a canyon somewhere down there under 10,000 cubic meters of water per second.
