I took 1.7 million photos over 6 days to catch this photo of a commercial jet in front of the sun.
The moment it happened, TWO floating prominences were visible, making this not just my best aircraft transit photo, but one of the luckiest of my career! Videos of the transit ๐

A motorcycle rider was seriously injured (but not life-threateningly) in a two-vehicle collision on Scott Road at 71st/72nd Avenue in North Delta, BC (near the Surrey border), on Saturday, May 9, 2026, around 3 p.m.
Delta Police Department (DPD) responded to the crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. The motorcyclist was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
The impact was forceful enough to launch the motorcycle into the air, where it became lodged/suspended from a traffic light pole above the intersection.
Scott Road was closed between 70th and 72nd Avenues while crews cleared vehicles, debris, and the suspended motorcycle. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Traffic was snarled in the vicinity.
No further details on the cause, speeds, or fault have been released publicly yet. This remains an active investigation.
We've been working hard to get the road ready for the summer and it's the final countdown!ย
Guardsman Pass will open Monday, May 11 at 7 a.m. ๐
If youโre excited to see it open, give a shout out to our crews.
Thanks all, safe travels!
Ancient volcanic activity and meteorite impacts "paint" the lunar surface with color.
This image is a stack of over 100 captures of the far side of the moon captured by @astro_reid, with color greatly enhanced to reveal these subtle variances.
Hereโs a stabilized live view of the ISS through my telescope and the photo I made from stacking the image frames.
The hardest part was getting my telescope to track it smoothly as it whizzed through the sky
More Rain, a Break, Then More Showers
A slow moving upper low pressure system is moving over the Wasatch Front Today and Tomorrow, with lingering showers on Wednesday. Look for a break back to partly cloudy skies, with showers returning on Sunday. @DanPopeWeather#utwx
