Chairperson of ReWild Wicklow, vice-chairperson of Newtown Tidy Towns, professional fundraiser for social justice and poverty charity, candidate for WicklowLE24
Its less than four months to the local elections in June and I've been working hard over the past year to try get elected. But now I need your help if you can 🙏
Elections are expensive and I'm up against established parties with lots of resources.

I didn't believe the journalist when they called, I had to wait to see this one published!
Thank you to the Irish Times for this incredible honour, what a privilege to have the Alveys & ReWild Wicklow chosen alongside all these inspiring people... no pressure for 2024 I guess 😅
I was out over the last couple weekends collecting the last of the cameras for our ReWild Wicklow 'Snapshot Europe' project. Among these more unusual photos from Roundwood and Glendalough are a very big hare, buzzard, woodpecker and our first-ever recorded red-listed woodcock
No resolution can be found for the people of Ashford to get access back to their playground on private land so @WhitmoreJen and I have called on the Council to investigate a Compulsory Purchase Order. I believe CPOs are an important part of our State system, what do others think?
Newtown has a new headquarters - that of ReWild Wicklow! I've been working on this one for a while with all the team and over the weekend we setup our base at Jacksmill Forest Gardens/Hub13. We've setup a very special community tree nursery to go with it of National Park oak.
Last night at the all-island Pride of Place Community Awards in Armagh we were shocked to be given a Special Award at the end of the night in recognition of all the unique achievements of ReWild Wicklow! 😃🏆🥳 This one is for all our amazing volunteers and partners!
I was in Altidore Castle with my good friend Thomas Emmet collecting two of our cameras setup for ReWild Wicklow's Snapshot Europe and they did not disappoint! I particularly love this one of a badger who stopped on his nightly forage for a good ole scratch 😆
2023 seems to be a mast year for our native Irish oak. Every 5-10 years these incredible trees will synchronise a mass production of acorns to increase chances of creating the next generation. Now is a great time to hunt for some acorns in your local area and sow a few 🌱
Thank you to Roundwood and District Historical Society for inviting Richard Nairn to give a talk on the Avonmore River Catchment last night - very interesting as always! Richard's new book Wild Waters is out now and, along with the other two in the series, is highly recommended!
Great to have @WhitmoreJen down in Wicklow Town today for the Credit Union 60th anniversary, see some of the new murals as part of the Town Team's fantastic initiative & finish with a coffee in the Good Life as we worked on issues that have been coming up on the doors here
Two camera checks as part of ReWild Wicklow's Snapshot Europe that tell the story of woodlands in Ireland. On one side of the road, a conifer plantation with only non-native sika deer. On the other side, a native woodland, with red squirrels, foxes, badgers, and pine marten.
Delighted to see Snapshot Europe expanded to Galway via David and his team this year! Great photos. Really hope we can keep building it and get a sub-project in every province to start!
Starting to get some images back from camera traps set in Galway as part of the Snapshot Europe project!

The Gov announced a new NP at Dowth Demesne. But at a tiny 223 ha can it be really called that? This is how it compares to other NPs in UK & Ire. They should use their new €3billion fund to get serious about NP expansion. Here's my plan to add 16,000 ha:https://t.co/nSIN9ZoaM5
Deadline for submissions to the new Wicklow Town-Rathnew LAP is this Thurs. I've started a long submission which can be read in full on my FB page, including Rockey Road upgrade, new community centre and biodiversity, would love to hear any other ideas!

This is what a new generation of politics looks like! 💜
Great day on Saturday meeting the first selection of Social Democrat candidates for local elections 2024 in Portlaoise and learning from Deputy Leader @OCallaghanCian on building a strong local campaign for change 💪
Thanks to great coverage in this week's local papers, my petition to expand Wicklow Mountains NP is really taking off! But every single signature counts in my ambition to get this into national debate. So if you have a moment please read and sign here: https://t.co/nSIN9ZoaM5
Ireland has one of the lowest NP coverages in Europe at a tiny 0.9%! But I have an ambitious plan to change that by almost doubling WMNP using land already owned by the State. But I need more signatures on this petition so please read, sign and share!
