After 8 years of paleo keto diet, I am the healthiest, strongest and most vital I've ever been. Starting on April 2017, I never thought the thing I feared the most at first would bring me everything I longed for for so long. With blood results equally exceptional. #keto#paleo

Eating carbs slows down your metabolism
While eating fat + protein increase it
The findings of a new meta-analysis looking at resting energy expenditure (REE) after weight loss
So, low-carb diets work partly bc they literally increase your metabolism while you're losing weight.

A professor of Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology gives a lesson in basic science to the @amdiabetesassn (ADA): humans do not require carbohydrates. (And, I'd add: for people with diabetes, carbohydrates make the disease worse)
After 2.6M views, the @AmDiabetesAssn defends itself, claiming carbs are essential. Incorrect. A v. small amount is needed for brain/eye function, but this glucose can be made from protein via gluconeogenesis. The human requirement for carb consumption is zero.
ADA, your own 2019 consensus report stated that carb reduction had the "most evidence" for controlling blood sugar-->key for combatting diabetes.
You know the science. Please act on it. https://t.co/YM3M3Rzn9S
Not taking the COVID vaccine was the best personal healthcare decision of my life, and I am so grateful I avoided the mRNA genetic-based shot.
The people I meet who know this generally fall into 3 camps:
1. Those who are happy for me that I’m doing great and realize I never needed it
2. Those who are a bit jealous inside, and now realize they didn’t need it either
3. Those who are angry and resentful that I managed to resist, disrespect my health autonomy, and would if they could— force me by whatever means necessary to receive an injection right now
The last group are extemely dangerous. And many of them are still practicing medicine
Intermittent fasting is linked to a 91% increase in heart attacks? Weak epidemiological data. Based on a press release only, no way to check this data.
The American Heart Association should not be press-releasing a mere abstract. And a bunch of other arguments summarized well here:

When I was 51 years old and 80+ pounds overweight, I started lifting weights pretty hard.
• Muscle mass & strength ⬆️
• BF% ⬇️
• BMI did not change
Then, at 53, I adopted a therapeutic carbohydrate reduction (low carb/ketogenic) way of eating, & amped up the resistance training even further.
• Muscle mass & strength ⬆️
• BF% ⬇️⬇️
• BMI ⬇️⬇️
After I lost my excess body fat, I started getting more serious about cardiovascular training: ran some 5Ks in 2021 & 22, a half marathon in 2022, & a marathon in 2023. Continued to work hard in weight room.

My Mom: "Preethi, why do you feed Shiva beef or chicken everyday. That is not healthy. You need to feed him some dal and curries."
Me: "Mom, compare Shiva's height/weight to a typical kid in India who is the same age."
She didn't have anything to say after that.
1960: the average man weighs 166 pounds.
2024: the average man weighs 200 pounds…
And about 20% of the male population has diabetes by their late 50s.
Lesson: You must do everything in your power not be average, because average means being in poor health.
In one of my all-time favorite studies, the more bacon they fed rats, the less colon cancer they got.
A 60% bacon diet offered the most protection against induced colon cancer.
Bonus: beef did not increase colon cancer while chicken did. Whoops.
1/14 I received a DM earlier this week as follows: “I took 10mg of Statin for 6 weeks in August 2021. After 6 weeks, twitching started, then slowly over the next 2 yrs my muscles have started to waste away until I can't walk or hold things in my hand. I was diagnosed /2
