I have spent the last ten days at our inquiry listening to the testimonies of women who have been raped and abused by packs of mainly Pakistani Muslim men.

One girl was raped, and then had a whisky bottle forced into her. It shattered inside her.

She was 12.

Hypocrisy is driving our country to the brink.

We are told that we are all equal, and to make our country truly equal we need to treat people unequally. For the sake of equality, we need to pretend that women are exactly the same as men - but also that masculinity is toxic, we need to "believe all women", that men are the problem for all society ills.

We are told to "trust the science" when we can all see that the scientists are abusing their position of authority to act in a partisan manner - and then we are told that men can magically become women denying all scientific fact.

We are told that lawmakers cannot be lawbreakers, but then watch as our lawmakers are removed from power without breaking laws, and those who do break laws not being prosecuted and still being lawmakers.

We are told that our society needs to be welcoming to those less fortunate than us, but when those less fortunate choose not to be thankful for our generosity and our money, and instead sow discord in our society and commit heinous crimes, we are labeled as bigots for having the gall to point out the reality of the situation.

We are told that we are all born as a blank slate, that we can be whoever we want to be in life - but for those born in England with a male gender and anglo saxon ancestry, we have to be uniquely responsible for the perceived crimes of our ancestors. Ancestors whose crimes were committed the same by all other peoples over millennia, but for some reason none of them need to be as accountable.

We are told that our lives must be turned upside down and our pockets ripped of our earnings to fund climate change initiatives to save the lives of those who are supposedly dying from air pollution, whilst multiple stabbings occur on UK streets each and every day, which just doesn't seem to have the same gravitas.

We're fed up of the hypocrisy. We're fed up of being gaslit on a daily basis.

The thing that struck me most about the crowd of socialists cheering a Labour politician's calls to cut the throats of political dissidents is how deeply ugly they all are.

It's a reminder that socialists are driven by envy. They cannot generate wealth, so steal other people's. They lack the willpower to make themselves attractive, so pretend that ugliness is beauty and invent reasons to demonise healthy people.

Their beloved "equity" is achieved by dragging people down to their level, rather than them striving to lift themselves up.

They cannot think independently, so subjugate themselves to the state, and cheer on the criminalisation of independent thought.

...It's a story of our white working class 🇬🇧

Once upon a time, we respected the backbone of our society. Our brave men went to the trenches. They mended stuff, and made stuff.

They joined the army. They worked in mines. They manned production lines. They drove lorries. They didn't make much, but they made enough. And they'd be the first to turn out to carry your bag, offer a pint and defend the nation. They knew your name. They helped you with stuff around the house. They laughed the loudest and made the sort of jokes that were so close to the bone, our sides split!

But we gave their jobs away. We cut the army. We never replaced heavy industry, and, where there were still jobs, we gave them to other men, from other countries, because they cost less.

Instead we gave them benefits. We took their dignity, their ability to provide for their families and replaced it with a handout. We robbed them of all opportunity and also robbed opportunity from their kids, too. Their kids who now have kids of their own.

We told them they can't make their jokes anymore, not even for light relief. We told them that everything they were once loved for, and indeed loved, was now considered thick, racist and out of touch. Wake up! we yelled. Get with programme! Get woke, you neanderthal! You've had it your way for far too long, and messed it up! It's only right that you are now punished. You're relatives enslaved us! You are a patriarchal beast! You fragile, over-privileged moron!

When they now turn on the telly, they no longer see people like them. The songs they once sang together are cancelled. Nobody like them writes songs any more. Well, nobody that would get a recording contract, anyway.

We called them lazy, after they had made the humiliatingly necessary calculation that to provide for their family, maybe even give them a holiday from their shithole neighbourhood, it was better to not work and claim benefits instead.

When they tried to tell us how much they were hurting, how they felt overlooked using the only words they had, we called them racist. Because they didn't get the latest memo from an overpaid London PR consultant about what language was acceptable and which viewpoint was allowed to be aired. How to work the ever changing system to fit in. Slow learners!
But they didn't have protected status. They were the monsters.

So they tried at the ballot box to change things. Three times they voted Tory who promised to cut immigration. They backed Brexit: it would put them first. They saw that those in charge who hadn't listened for decades were made to listen at last!

Oh! They listened. And did everything in their power to bully and shame, to silence their voice, to frame them as a threat, to intimidate and censor.

Day after day, night after night, they watched their towns change irreparably. They watched people from other countries being given houses and doctors' appointments. It must be their turn next. Surely.

These other people were also showered with the loving glow of not just being wanted - yes! WANTED! - but actively cheered for! Refugees welcome! Black lives matter!

Who are they? Well, they can't get to know them. They don't learn English. Don't go to the pub. But it must be their fault for not welcoming them enough, understanding them enough. They must be racist.

Then they saw members of those communities complain and witnessed superhuman efforts made by those in power to listen to them. And yet, some still riot when they don't get their own way. Some commit crimes, but it's not their fault. They just need to be better understood. They've been through things none of us can relate to. They're disenfranchised. They have mental health issues. And it's probably your fault, you lazy white racist.

That, dear friends, is the story of working class England. I hope you enjoyed it.

The reason the UK's elite class is so hostile to Elon Musk and other dissenters is because they can sense they are losing control of the narrative and the conversation.

We are simply no longer in a world where the national conversation and what is considered "true" can be controlled by the same groups of people --who come from the same backgrounds, have the same values, the same political loyalties, and want the same outcomes.

That era, when the elite class dominate what used to be the most important and influential institutions, is over. It is done. And, as @KonstantinKisin has rightly noted, it is never coming back. We are in a new era.

As I wrote in a book last year, many people in the West are rapidly giving up on "a national conversation" that no longer reflects their values, their voice, and which considers some groups in society, usually minority groups, to be more virtuous than others.

The elite class could have responded to this trend by opening themselves up; they chose to the opposite while also attacking anybody who questioned their consensus along the way.

This is why so many people are now flocking to new media --X, Substack, etc--all of which reflect how the game has changed, how the conversation has changed.

And this new media, crucially, is insulating counter-cultural writers and thinkers who are willing to take on the broken consensus, professionally and financially.

Were they still in the legacy institutions these counter-cultural voices would be harassed, bullied, intimidated, cancelled, shut down and silenced.

Just look at the amount of hostility I get from university academics or established columnists who think they have a right to control the national conversation, a palpable sense of entitlement. Well, they don't. And they can no longer control the conversation.

Because for the first time in history, we have a counter-cultural class, a counter-elite if you like, who are not only independent from the legacy institutions but are fully insulated and protected from those institutions.

And through their reach, influence, and power, they can wield just as much influence over the national conversation, if not more, as the traditional elite class.

So long as ordinary people are willing to support and spread these voices the game has completely changed.

The only people who have not realised this are the elite class, who even when they have tried to embrace new media have fundamentally misunderstood it.

Just look at the UK podcast circuit, the flagship shows. The same people. The same insiders. The same rotation of the same names who all cling to the same values but refuse to have any meaningful, serious, cross-cutting debate about possible alternatives.

And just look at the reaction to the protests. What much of the elite class, the elite conversation, considers "controversial" or "incendiary" views are entirely normal views out there in the country.

Everybody can see this which is why public confidence and trust in legacy institutions is collapsing. With a few notable exceptions, they refuse to open themselves up to alternative viewpoints and so are merely pushing more and more people to look elsewhere, hastening their own demise. Imagine for a moment if coverage of the UK riots and protests had only been available in legacy media. Imagine what that would have looked like.

This is why there are now two conversations going on in this country. What we might call the "approved", official narrative that you see on legacy media, which is promoted by the elite class and which, in my view, looks ridiculous and out-of-touch with the country.

As I said last night, if you really think what's happening in Britain right now is because of a coordinated social campaign being led by Tommy Robinson, Andrew Tate, and Elon Musk then you really need to reassess what you are reading and how you are living because you are completely disconnected from the country.

And what we might call the "unofficial" narrative that is largely playing out on new media and which despite being framed by the elite class as "misinformation" or "disinformation" is often grounded in reality. We can all watch the videos with our own eyes. We can all read. We are not idiots. We are not mindless lemmings.

There is no putting all this back in the box. Personally, I think the elite class in this country now has a choice. They can either engage with new media and open up the national conversation to alternative viewpoints or they can continue to double down, which in the end will only fuel the rise of alternative media, writers & thinkers.

So if you feel the elite conversation is no longer sufficient or needs to be radically reformed then obviously come and join us at https://t.co/xawYBQaQAZ but beyond that ensure you have a bunch of other counter-cultural perspectives in your timeline each day, and you are promoting alternative voices. Because now is the time to be doing that, not clinging to some outdated, narrow orthodoxy which has left millions of people feeling they have no voice in the conversation.
