@jofish Hi Jofish! I asked @tatianavlahovic (who's not on twitter much) and she recommended the Ask Like A Pro series from Michele Ronsen: https://t.co/EKxnGJT25Z
neural networks are terrible houses of cards, but until today I'd never just thrown twice as much data and training time at a model and actually had it significantly improve
@vlandham this is fantastic - I have wanted exactly this before (for "when does this huge tv show get good") and I'll definitely use it for that in the future. thanks!
@colegleason this is not your point, but: you're moving to Seattle! (we're still in the long process of making our way back to Pgh.) So, sorry to hear it - but Seattle's great, hope you enjoy it out there!
@kurtosis0 haha- also, not knocking it b/c haven't tried it yet, but: if you're starting a new Pakistani/Indian place, why put it within 1 block of literally 4 others?
yes this thread! I've gotten annoyed with "tech debt" over the years. feels like "national debt" - we all shrug, maybe it's not even bad. but connect "maintenance thing X" to "... and then the toilet will overflow at midnight and person Y will have to fix it."
@josephseering yeah - I'm kind of sick of self-righteous posturing about this study. why not try a shock? they know it's not dangerous. sure sitting quietly is nice, but exploring your environment is worthwhile too
@enf haha I got that too. I'm a little sleepy!
... who knows, there's gotta be so much variability at the millisecond level just based on input method and stuff. it's probably good for tracking over time (with same mouse/app) more than like "200 is good, 400 is sleepy" absolutes
@kurtosis0 yeah but even if they decide "nope, can't meet these conditions" (which is probably disappointing), immediate firing and locking out of everything is a crummy response to "I can work on a last date"
