@JohnLeFevre@dieworkwear "Mutilating children" we should outlaw circumcision then. Which is an actual procedure done without the consent of the child, and can result in pretty horrific complications as they grow up.
@polypocketknife I saw them live once and he introduced the band by just introducing himself and then saying "here's the band". Didn't say anyone else's name. I always thought that was kind of a jerk move. Not surprised he's got other things.
@ZeForener I've seen self taught people with all of these and degree people with none. It's highly dependent on the motivation of the individual to learn.
@ZeForener Fundamentals. My degree exposed me to the fundamentals of modern networking, machine code, compute theory and more (like different maths) that grounds me in any environment. Some details might be new but the essence is all the same. Of course this is heavily "it depends".
@rickasaurus TDD is often the best way to discover the API you are working on in the first place. It focuses you on the external interface and keeps you out of the implementation. I'll rewrite my tests often as I'm working through an API before I move on to implementing it. It's cheap to do.
@patilindrajeets Both of the alternate implementations have different behavior when nr_groups is 2. Which leads me to believe that the explicit if else really helps highlight logic and prevents bugs.
@liminal_warmth Yep. I heard a really simple recommendation once to just flip the bottles over after you've taken them, and flip them back the next time you brush your teeth. Super simple but works like a charm for me.
@rascalking@m_older I'm on season 9! This show has held up way better than I thought. It's not perfect but it's much better than a lot of the more modern shows. And yeah, ignoring the characterizations in the movie was the right call.
@mykola This one's a little strange but I'll go for absurd doses of hot sauce when I'm really upset. It's not typically harmful but I can't focus on anything else at the time.
@mykola You probably are aware but for those that aren't it's pretty easy to break your hand punching walls. I did this a few weeks ago when I punched a doorframe.
@hillelogram I've been trying to use Alloy to model game states and find inconsistencies in rules for a tabletop game I've been working on. I wanted to use it as a test suite, but haven't found a convenient way to do that with the existing tooling. See https://t.co/4G59Ova0CH if curious.
@m_older Dang I was hoping for something like "all city governments have a citizen proposal hotline to call for issues to vote on" but I guess the world isn't so neat as I'd like it to be. We do actually have a neighborhood association for a different issue. We had to take it to court.
@m_older How do I get involved in any meaningful way in local government? It feels so inscrutable. I can tell you how to make reliable systems to secure trains but if you asked me how I could make my street safer so I don't get killed by speeding cars walking the dog I couldn't tell you.
Fin: I didn't expect to learn things about myself by doing these! This was a really helpful exercise and thank you @ADHD_Alien for posting! I have a lot of stuff to talk to my therapist about now haha!
1. I told my dad I think I have ADHD in middle school. But I did well in school and "remembered what I was saying when I get distracted" so I can't have it. Fast forward to 29 and I get tested after seeing these comics and my attention scores are abysmal. Whoops.
Here are some prompt ideas for #adhdawarenessmonth! Feel free to use any medium you want or simply post a tweet answering the questions! โจ
I hope people new to ADHD will get a lot of good info out of this ~
15. I found a community! I know more about myself and can hack my brain better. I kind of feel vindicated. I don't beat myself up so often. I feel whole, right, and can accept myself better. There are people in my life who I don't the same from and I wish I did. I'm not broken.
