If anyone wants to know WHY I want to separate from Canada this is a perfect example. I just can not be complicit in a justice system that allows this to happen.
The results are in — and I’m deeply honoured to be named the councillor-elect for Ward 6.
Thank you to every voter who took the time to participate, and to my fellow candidates for their hard work, ideas and dedication to our community.
I ran to represent everyone in Ward 6 and I’ll carry that same commitment into City Hall.
The best is yet to come. Let’s get to work.

A slap in the face to every single Canadian that can't afford a home after a decade of rising rents and housing costs under the Liberals.
Secure the borders. Fix our immigration system. Stop wasting money.
@Marielaina3 I’m wondering why these numbers don’t balance? And where is Quebec on this chart? I know they have their own Quebec pension plan so not part of CPP. But does this significant imbalance mean that the CPP is funding the QPP?
@acoyne Can you please explain why this is BS? Not with your 1-liner zingers devoid of any actual information, but when @mario4thenorth is using well, researched publicly available sources to present factual information and you spew out “BS” and dismiss it out of hand, then it’s on you
@acoyne@acoyne - the more appropriate question is why Alberta would even want to stay in Canada. Other than hockey & international sports, I can’t think of a single valid reason.
One year ago today, Calgarians made history.
It marked the start of the largest public hearing our city has ever seen, and the message was loud and clear: Blanket rezoning doesn’t work.
Over 700 Calgarians spoke at the mic. Another 6,000 wrote in. More than 50,000 people tuned in.
Despite 61% of speakers opposing the plan, City Council passed it anyway — 9 votes to 6.
I was the only Ward 6 candidate who showed up and spoke out at that hearing. Not just online or after the fact — I stood up and told Council this plan was wrong.
Blanket rezoning puts huge pressure on our parks, parking, schools and infrastructure, without a solid plan to support the growth. That’s not how you run a city or any well-managed business.
I believe in smart, thoughtful development — not one-size-fits-all decisions that ignore communities.
It’s time to stop blanket rezoning and bring common sense back to City Hall.

I’m increasingly worried that Calgary isn’t ready for U.S. tariffs— and that’s a failure of leadership. 96% of our exports go to the U.S. so we should have had a plan long ago.
Instead, this City Council finds itself still scrambling when businesses need certainty now.
I am grateful that Council has invited the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and Calgary Economic Development to the table to give a presentation today. That’s a good idea.
As your City Councillor, I’ll bring business sense to City Hall so we stop reacting and start getting ahead of problems.

Couldn’t agree more. Calgary’s sports facilities are bursting at the seams. Many clubs ranging from soccer to swimming to hockey or racket sports have to turn kids away because they don’t have enough facility space.
Steve is right. Calgary’s GamePLAN is a solid start, but we can’t stop there.
The responsibility is on the next council to create sustainable recreational infrastructure for Calgarians. If elected, I’ll work with all levels of government to invest in our city’s future. After all, as noted in this piece, Sport, Physical Activity, and Recreation (SPAR) fuel our economy — bringing in as much GDP as tourism.

@ericnuttall Why do you always point primarily to inventory levels? If the supply can meet the demand (and then some) then wouldn’t having excess inventory become less important?
I think it’s time for my annual rant about how @calgarytransit only has trains going every 12-15 minutes during the @calgarystampede. Every hour is a peak hour during Stampede! Train was so full 100’s of people could not get on at mid day. @cityofcalgary needs to plan ahead.
@MikeBarrettON 1. The App Store rating is 4.5. Huh? That seems suspiciously high.
2. Actual ratings: 1-2 stars. I scanned through over 1,000 ratings. Everyone hates the app.
3. There are 765,000 ratings. That’s more than global apps like Netflix!
