Understanding Strabismus (Crossed Eyes)

What is Strabismus?
Strabismus, commonly known as crossed eyes, occurs when both eyes don't look at the same place at the same time. One eye may look straight ahead while the other turns inward, outward, upward, or downward.

Types of Strabismus:
• Esotropia - Eye turns inward (cross-eyed)
• Exotropia - Eye turns outward (wall-eyed)
• Hypertropia - Eye turns upward
• Hypotropia - Eye turns downward
