Cultivate a life outside of work. Develop meaningful and genuine connections with others (not just for networking).
You can be well-liked and highly visible at work, but the truth is this: if you’re laid off today, most people from the office won’t check in after a week.
It’s not personal,it’s just how work relationships are structured. Always understand that it is whatever that brought you all together that will keep you all together. When that common denominator is out, you are no longer going to be together.
If you understand this, your expectations of others will be as it should be and you will not take offense in trivial matters.
@job_matua Well done with the fight on corruption, are you aware the government frustrates medical interns because on non-availability of training opportunities. How does social capital that you pushing the youth to actively pursue avert that.
Rather guide them on the requisite social capital that gets you positions like Deputy RDC😏. The lack of training opportunities is bigger than what your small brain can fathom.
I appeal to Universities to introduce a course unit on building social capital/life networks? Can NCHE headed by Prof Okwakol look into this important soft skill?
It pains me to find students who cannot get places for internship or even fail to create or get a job. 1/2
@SpireJim
@job_matua Don’t escape it chief. For an unfortunate youth out there that identifies you as a role model and wishes to be as deputy RDC someday, how best can they prepare😏
@job_matua Preferably with the RDC onboarding criteria so the youth can place themselves in those spaces. The issue here is one- the non standardized criteria for onboarding a number of workers for the largest employer government is one of the reasons why training opportunities are scarce.
@job_matua Why would you want to preach what has not been applicable in your own life? Share the requisite qualifications of an RDC so the youth can prepare themselves for the opportunity.
@SilverKayondo Very deceptive indeed counsel. Knowledge economy is not grounded in production rather sustenance of multinationals. We need a mindset shift
Dear @SpireJim please note the underground network sewer referenced here is operated by @nwscug for sewage conveyance from connected properties to sewage treatment plants.
“The major problem of flooding in Kampala ... It's these malls, plazas and arcades that mushroomed everywhere. Some divert, others stupidly block or destroy the underground network sewer system that was created for the city years ago. It's never been upgraded. No one talks about it, it’s because the buildings belong to " big men" in government! They are untouchable, and sadly, the results are catastrophic.”
@TheMutambuze How can modern technologies like AI can ramp up Africa's Industrial productivity and products uptake by the market?
It is time we evaluate the contribution of industrial parks set up by government as an effort to increase our productivity and by extension the power consumption.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul. How much will they borrow for the network infrastructure upgrade most likely from our local banks as well? I suspect the trajectory to be higher interest rates to sustained high tariffs. I wish I am wrong.
The Ministry of Finance is proposing to borrow US$ USD190,988,556 (UGX 697,788,148,659 or UGX 697.8 billion) from Stanbic Bank to facilitate the buyout of Umeme Limited.
The details are contained in the Order Paper for tomorrow’s plenary sitting.
The moment you embrace the power of starting over, new doors will open—opportunities you never imagined. Let go of the fear, trust the process, and step forward with courage. Fresh starts aren’t failures. They are second chances to build something even greater.
Remember that.
May your day be BLESSED.
Monday musings: Nothing against MK but to me he doesn't yet inspire confidence as a potential successor yet. That's if he's still intending to be president. There doesn't seem to be strong contenders within NRM either. So you guys either get your act together or else give the Opposition a chance (not that I think they are any better). And if completely relinquishing power is too much for you (this is Africa afterall so my expectations are low) maybe you can pick an Opposition puppet and get behind him and you rule from the shadows as VP and stick with it (because we don't want Riek Machar/Salva Kiir situation either). It's been almost 40 years. You guys owe Uganda a smooth post-Museveni transition. Put egos aside. We don't want a revolution and we don't want civil war either. Don't give us Sudan 2.0.
One has to ask how the construction company, questionable use of influencer aside, allowed a visitor on an active worksite without the proper safety gear.
