@loophold#cudachat Barracuda Cloud Generation Firewalls have the right functionality for the cloud. Designed to ease your migration to the cloud, provide you security controls that work in the cloud, satisfy your cloud use cases, and give you a financial model that works for your business
@barracuda#cudachat Things change, you might not need one today, but you should protect your investment by ensuring it is ready for you with the right functionality should you decide to make the big move! :-)
@barracuda#Cudachat Optimized connectivity to the cloud by leveraging platform specific connectivity such as Azure ExpressRoute and AWS DirectConnect to first get you to the cloud, then, provide transport independent VPN connectivity between locations and clouds is a start...
@barracuda#cudachat You must have a firewall that has been integrated with the cloud. management, monitoring, elastic scaling and so on for the major public cloud platforms is a must.
@barracuda#cudachat If your firewall doesn't integrate with the cloud platforms natively by using their built-in functionality eg mgmt tools, then life is going to get a little tough - again as Tim Jefferson says - be a friend and deploy the right tool for the job!
@barracuda#cudachat ... and having a financial friction-free licensing model that works in your favor is critical too. Got to keep those costs under control!
@barracuda#cudachat the use cases in the cloud are fundamentally different. you have to protect elastic workloads and you need to be able to orchestrate your deployment(s) with common tools like Puppet etc.
@loophold Dealing with highly elastic environments is not a natural function of a traditional firewall. amongst other considerations you need a financial model that works. A 1 license 1 firewall model gets $$$$ very quickly #cudachat
@loophold For sure! security in the cloud is different - firewalls were designed for traditional on-premises deployments - designed before the cloud... #cudachat
@barracuda They also provide customers with the ability to move on from the tightly coupled vertically integrated architectures used in traditional data centers, into the loosely coupled horizontally scaling architectures that are found in the public cloud #cudachat
@barracuda Cloud Generation Firewalls redefine the role of the Firewall from a perimeter security solution to a distributed network optimization solution that eliminates the problems and friction associated with migrating security controls to the cloud.
