Bill Munns sat down with Dave Wylie and did exactly what the evidence required — he stuck to his guns.

The proof that the Patterson-Gimlin Film is real rests on the image data in the film itself. You do not need surrounding stories or later recollections. Study the film correctly and it shows what it shows. The new material in Capturing Bigfoot does not change that data, so the conclusion does not change.

What is striking to me is seeing the selective weight given to testimony. Critics who insist that family statements and Heironimus accounts should settle the PGF are the same voices who routinely set aside Bigfoot sighting reports for lacking solid evidence. Munns is clear on the distinction: human memory is malleable, sincere people can still be wrong, and anecdotes are not technical evidence.

When he pointed Greg Long to the scientific literature on memory reliability — including Elizabeth Loftus and a Scientific American piece — Long’s response was to ask that no more links be sent. The consistent standard is to stay with the film. Demanding that the image data be set aside in favor of the testimony is precisely backwards.

Munns examined the physical “Norma” footage: 16 mm Kodachrome II camera original, 1966 manufacture date code. Manufacture date is not shooting date, and no personnel connection has been established that would require the clip to be a pre-PGF rehearsal. A replica does not need that connection — and multiple independent replicas already exist (BBC, Morris, Blevins). The documentary sells a strong hoax narrative, yet it never quite delivers the proof that would alter the image data.

What would actually move the needle remains straightforward. The two criteria that could sway me are unchanged, and Munns is equally clear on his own: be shown the Patty suit, especially the mask. Until that happens, the film is the same. The image data is the same. Therefore the conclusion remains the same.

@alexboge @Bugimus We personally didn’t believe the PGF film was authentic until very recently in actuality. After looking at the peripheral research surrounding it; there is a lot to point to it being authentic - despite not believing it for over 40 years.

The Patterson Gimlin Film, 1967, has not been debunked whatsoever. The headlines are comparing apples to oranges. The entire documentary is based around “my daddy told my momma and I that Bigfoot is fake” and “we found a cannister that says 1966 on the side of it” Nobody can take away the research that Dr Jeff Meldrum accomplished. He scientifically verified and corroborated the PG film as real in 2007, this tenured professor of bipedal anthropology got the Sasquatch foot a taxonomic name designation as well, the highest scientific credentials Sasquatch will probably ever receive.
