Great to meet with you @VosJames and the team. Enjoyed discussing @londonpartners London 2030 Tourism Vision as well as importance of trade & investment to both our cities.
Yesterday, we met with London & Partners, the UK city's business growth and destination agency. We discussed possible synergies between our tourism and economic strategies to benefit trade + travel in Cape Town & London.

Delighted that @londonpartners is launching the London 2030 Tourism Vision today. Well worth a read of @LauraCitron in @CityAM on why this is the ideal time to ask what kind of tourism destination we want London to be in the future - https://t.co/9ujlVRamgo
The Vision is what we, as an industry, want London’s tourism to look like in 2030. It is designed to help deliver a sustainable, resilient and inclusive future. It is an invitation to write London’s next chapter, together. https://t.co/nN4bIFcvRH
Great to see London retaining the title of Europe’s top financial hub in large part thanks to the city’s highly-skilled talent pool. Check out @zyen_df’s global financial centres index. https://t.co/QVqT2ZQww5
UPDATE: Her Majesty The Queen’s Lying-in-State guidance has been updated with further details, including the queue route
Please plan ahead for when, where and how to view the Lying-in-State

Great when you see the hard work of colleagues across @londonpartners come to life. Incredibly important sector to the London and UK economy, to the fabric of the city and its enduring global brand #tourism#LetsDoLondon https://t.co/EXCYpam4Ex
Watching Serena Williams vs Harmony Tan @Wimbledon you are reminded that #tennis and those who play at the top of the game are extraordinary - over three hours of physical and mental back and forth. I’m biased but it’s brilliant!
Great to see the @londonpartners #LetsDoLondon campaign international launch. Support for industry that’s been hammered over the past couple of years & one that is vital to London’s economy - 12% GDP, 1 in 7 jobs & draw for talent/investment https://t.co/UPCUdYtvbU
The best all round performer across economy, r&d, cultural interaction, liveability, environment and accessibility - not bad at all #London, not bad at all
Great that yesterday's @CommonsDCMS session with @londonpartners' @allen_m_simpson featured on Today in Parliament on @Podchaser & called out the sector's social importance as well as looking forward the return of international visitors to London https://t.co/SbSU3JbFXC
Absolutely right from @NeilGarratt & those jobs are c.12% of London’s GDP. As @allen_m_simpson also said tourism plays a major role for trade & investment both in its own right but also as a driver of FDI & talent into the UK. Important session from @CommonsDCMS
It's always great to see former Inside City Hall guests go on to even bigger things! 😄
And Allen is spot on about the forgotten importance of tourism. Pre-pandemic, 1 in 7 of London's jobs were in tourism, many depending on the now-absent overseas visitors.
Great to see such confidence in the UK as a global financial centre. More than half of EY's respondents also cited Britain’s success in addressing the pandemic as the most important factor in influencing investment. 👇
This welcome investment is another vote of confidence in the City. Rumours of the demise of the UK as a global financial centre are wide of the mark again - the Chancellor and I will keep pushing on with our reform agenda.
Nice to see @allen_m_simpson confirming the impact of the #LetsDoLondon campaign. £70m for the economy, 280,000 visitors & a huge 18:1 ROI. Huge collaboration by @MayorofLondon the industry, BIDs, LAs & @londonpartners https://t.co/t0ezyD3viI
Think this is very good from @jameskirkup - rise of ESG agenda is effectively brand allied with purpose. Customers want that from businesses & voters want it reflected in policy but needs more mutual understanding from boardroom to Whitehall
