Iowa native now in N.C. Married to the best wife ever! I like talking about movies, TV, video games (esp. Nintendo ones), and things that make me laugh.
@EndWokeness Is there a prediction on Kalshi or Polymarket for how long it will take before every last one of these is destroyed/gutted to sell everything that isn't nailed down (and even the things that are) for drug money? I'm thinking two weeks or so; maybe a month if they're lucky.
@burnerDevAcct@padikiki My local TB in college had its own special dollar menu. Two chalupas, Mexican pizza, and supreme nachos (basically a smaller Nachos Bell Grande) for either $3 or $4 (like 20 years ago, so can't exactly remember). Just knew I could get stuffed for less than $5.
@midwestern_ope Grotto of the Redemption in West Bend! My parents lived there for about 10 years right after I graduated high school. Makes me a little sad that more people don't know about it.
@Not_the_Bee Probably been about 15 years ago now, but saw him and Tone Loc at the Iowa State Fair on a free stage, and the area was *packed*, even overflowing, and people were having a good time. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@Not_the_Bee Look, I get it. Vanilla Ice basically has "Ice, Ice, Baby" and "Ninja Rap," but aside from that, he seems like a pretty solid dude. Got into doing home renovations for a bit, not sure if he still is. Not sure he deserves the shade being thrown here. (1/2)
@hwinkler4real I scrolled a bit, but didn't see one person taking advantage of this absolute layup: "But what Mama don't know won't hurt her. I trust you'll make the right decision."
@petersantilli changing a person. I had some friends about 20 years ago lose a lot when their apartment building caught fire (think it started in the unit below them). For a long time, there was "life before the fire" and "life after the fire." Just saying, it has a way of altering perspective.
@petersantilli Never really paid attention to Pratt much before. I do remember thinking he seemed like a d-bag back in the day. But also seemed like becoming a dad mellowed him out. And going through a life-altering event like your house burning down (when it didn't need to) has a way of (1/2)
@JenLove1010@SteveGuest@RepPressley "I've got 200 acres to harvest. I could use my combine to do it in a couple days, or I could force some black people to do it by hand and take weeks instead." To impact their bottom line so harshly would take such a spectacular level of racism I don't think exists.
@JenLove1010@SteveGuest@RepPressley Doesn't even make sense on its face. Imagine the most racist KKK-type person who happens to be a cotton farmer. You think they're going to sacrifice the efficiency of modern agricultural implements to harvest cotton just to force black people to do it instead?
@Super70sSports When we were in elementary, used to beg high school guys to get us going real fast on it. Once they did, the best was hanging on to the top of the bars and letting your legs flail out behind you. Felt like you were flying.
@james_xond My 2 cents: 2000 election. There was always political opposition, but Dems never got over it and they *hated* Bush. Quickly followed by 9/11 and Afghanistan/Iraq, kinda been downhill since then.
