Richard Gere on Trump: “We’re living in the darkest moment that I’ve experienced on this planet. Whoever thought America could turn like this? Whoever thought that a maniac like this would be president and dismantle all the good things? America’s never been a perfect place, but it has a perfect ideal. First day this guy dismantled almost everything that was good about the US government and people”
I voted for @katieporterca for the Senate, but voted for @TomSteyer for governor because although the idea of voting for a billionaire brings me skepticism, we saw in the Senate race that it just took $10M from a crypto backed super PAC to take out Porter.
Steyer has the unlimited money to fight the special interests spending and beat them at their own game giving him the better chance at winning.
Porter supporters, your vote can make a difference in this primary if you strategically vote for Steyer to block Hilton from getting into the top 2 spots.
We’re both proud Jewish New Yorkers. But there are sharp & clear differences between us on Israel/Palestine.
For example, Dan Goldman marched alongside war criminal Bezalel Smotrich yesterday, who called it “just & moral” to starve Gaza. I did not.
Supporting Becerra over Steyer just because Steyer is a billionaire proves that you’re stupid, lazy, unwilling to do any level of real research on the candidates, and you will end up getting just another lip service lib elected instead of someone who would actually use his powers to get the things you liberals say you want passed
Becerra won’t do anything but keep the status quo
Mamdani: "Government efficiency — these are words that somehow have been understood as if they are Republican priorities, when in fact they're the priorities of anyone who believes in the public sector. Any yet, Elon Musk took that language and used it to cut as many jobs that were as critical as possible for so many of the neediest people across the country and across the world. Ours is going to be a focus on actually delivering efficiency. Not as a byword for cutting services, but actually a sincere commitment to efficiency. And we firmly believe not only in closing the last chapter of city government, but in starting the new one. The proposals that COGE will be looking at will be ones that we view as critical to unlocking the full potential of city government.”
The latest numbers validate what we’re seeing on the ground: This race is close, and we have momentum.
The corporate interests ripping you off know it, too — and that’s why they’re spending tens of millions to stop us.
Don't let them. Vote by June 2 to bring it home.
Fifty-one Americans in the healthcare industry were included on Forbes‘ annual billionaires list.
Americans are paying more than ever for healthcare, and 51 people have become billionaires because of it.
America doesn’t need louder politicians. It needs leaders who actually care whether ordinary people can live, eat, learn, and enjoy their city.
Seeing Mamdani talk about free libraries, parks, games, and public access feels more presidential than most American politicians have looked in years.
Reminder for oomfs that in 2016, as a superdelegate Xavier Becerra cast his vote for Hillary Clinton despite the fact that Bernie won his home district over Clinton of CA-34.
We're one week from Election Day. This race will be decided by who shows up — vote now or in-person on June 2. Let's stand up to corporate interests and win this thing.
Civilization is drowning in mediocrity and starving for Beauty.
It is one of the things which reminds a civilization that life is worth living.
Cathedrals, poetry, music, sculpture, architecture, gardens, great stories are civilizational necessities.
A society which stops striving for beauty eventually forgets what it is striving for at all.
