🚉 It's been a year of progress in Devon where we've been building the new Okehampton Interchange station
🚂 Trains will start arriving in early summer, to welcome even more people from West Devon and North Cornwall onto the railway to Exeter
🎥 Here's how it's coming along:
Heavy flooding and damage from Storm Chandra will continue to impact passengers travelling in Devon & Cornwall into next week. Replacement transport will be in place where possible. Check Before You Travel. https://t.co/kEItDNxQHt

A DMU bounds for Exeter crosses the magnificent Meldon viaduct in Devon on 23 September 1966 which was closed to rail traffic in 1990 though it can still be used by walkers and cyclists. https://t.co/FrguyaWuhK
The final HST from Exeter St Davids
After almost 50 years, the public service of the HST in the south west comes to an end today.
GWR's oldest power car, 43004 Caerphilly Castle had the honour of leading the 0800 Exeter St Davids to Penzance with classmate 43186 Taunton Castle.
The SR in north Cornwall in May 1964, No 41214 with its one‐coach train at Hatherleigh, probably the largest intermediate community on the route of the North Devon & Cornwall Junction Railway, though situated about two miles away from the station that purported to serve it.
Now preserved and based on @bluebellrailway unrebuilt ‘West Country’ No 34023 Blackmoor Vale, was the motive power for the 11.10am service from Plymouth to Okehampton on 27 May 1964, one of the few SR lines in Devon and Cornwall still with us. https://t.co/ltRbtsHSpu
⚠️The line between Barnstaple and Crediton is closed until further notice, owing to flooding.
📱Passengers are urged to check before travelling at https://t.co/seN4QeKUwo.
🚌A limited bus replacement service is in place. Ticket acceptance on local buses where applicable.
Looking very much the picture of power, West Country 34004 Yeovil flies along the North Cornwall line near Otterham in 1954. 34004 had participated in the Exchange Trials & its exploits were the stuff of legend: knocking 20 minutes off of Highland timetables & winding bankers!
From December this will be a thing of the past!
GWR Class 43 Castle Set HST 43198 (Driver Brian Cooper) + 43156 (Maen Castle) is seen departing St Austell on 2E13 the 12:44 to Exeter St Davids via Plymouth from Penzance

🚂Today, 27 September, marks exactly 200 years of railway passenger travel. That journey by Locomotion No.1 on the Stockton & Darlington Railway changed Britain and the world forever #Railway200
