@TristinHopper I am sure Sir John A himself would have had a major problem with the government removing the image of the reigning monarch to be replaced by a politician. I say put the King himself on every denomination, or even better, do a modern version of the Bank of Canada 1935 series.
@northstar568@IanLloydRoyal@sarahdiaryz I think that's a replica set, as it appears to be the Elizabeth II Canadian Forces Decoration. In period photographs, she wears the George VI CD.
@CoopTory The shield would be whatever the current shield of the arms of HM the King in right of Canada is. In 1957 the shield was modified to replace the "female" Irish harp to a Celtic harp and the leaves from green to red. That is the current shield of the arms.
@nationalpost The supreme irony to me is, if Montcalm had won, the Quebecois "nation" would have been sold to the Americans in 1803 and assimilated into historical oblivion. The British Crown is probably the only reason they still exist as a distinctive group.
@MacleanKay@Adam_Stirling How did we as a society get to the point where raising a family on one income is virtually impossible, and public education is basically taxpayer funded day-care? And why is no politician talking about this?
@theprovince The Canadian media establishment relishes in publishing this type of drivel. Always looking for the most negative angle gets clicks I suppose .
@BillHolland84 @theLUCASTDS Agreed. G VI R, it'd be in very poor taste to have prepared such a piece of jewelry in advance of Her Late Majesty's death. Probably gifted to him by his grandfather.
