These hate posts about canceling emergencies and letting millions die are increasingly being shared by many. Could you really do that if it were your mom, dad, or, worst of all, imagine someone doing it to you when you are bleeding out and dying? Having been in this field for nearly 20 years, I’ve witnessed a vast range of emotions from both doctors and patients. There are tons of innocent patients and bystanders, and you have absolutely NO right to intentionally harm someone for whatever reason it maybe. If we want to change something, let’s protest with our own lives—but definitely NOT with someone else’s. You can’t cultivate anything good on soil soaked with blood, and you can’t avenge an entire society in the name of avenging a few monsters. Always honor your oath: do no harm.

Yes we need to evolve into a society where we ALL feel equally safe. But that is going to take decades. It’s going to hopefully happen with sensitizing and empowering our sons and daughters. The next generations will be better. We will get there. Eventually. But what in the interim ? Right now justice would be to put a hard stop to such atrocities. And the only way to do that is a punishment so harsh that it scares the living daylights out of such perpetrators. That’s what we need. Perhaps ?

My statistical breakdown and strategy for NEET-PG which I followed during MY preparation. I have tried to keep it simple without entering into complicated calculations.

Let's consider the probability 'p' of getting a question correct. If you answer x questions, the expected value E for each question can be expressed as:
E=4p−1(1−p)=5p−1

Scenarios in exam:
Can't eliminate any option: 25% chance of guessing correctly = +0.25 marks (using above formula).
Eliminate 1 option: 33.3% chance = +0.67 marks.
Eliminate 2 options: 50% chance = +1.5 marks.
Eliminate 3 options: 100% chance = +4 marks.

Even without knowing the answer, guessing always results in a positive expected gain (+0.25 marks). To lose marks, your probability of being correct would need to be below 20%—which is impossible in a question with 4 options. Therefore, answering all 200 questions is the optimal strategy, even for candidates aiming for the top 100.

Let's understand how this works:

Comparing Preparation Levels:
Well-prepared candidates (assume they know 90-95% of questions):
10 questions with no idea?Skip: 0 marks.
Guess: +2.5 marks (10*0.25).

Not so well-prepared candidates (assume they know 70-75% of questions):
50 questions with no idea?
Skip: 0 marks.
Guess: +12.5 marks (50*0.25).

Conclusion:
Well-prepared candidates: Consider skipping 3-5 questions if your intuition strongly suggests you're likely to be wrong. At the top, careful omission of a few questions might help you maintain a high rank.

Not so well-prepared candidates: Guess every question. The competition is tighter near the mean/average score, so answering everything maximizes your chances of gaining marks and moving up the ranks.

This is only my opinion and you guys can decide what is best for you.

LONG POST ALERT! Here is my take on Normalization in MD/MS exams, in a country like India.

1. Loss of Individual Performance Insight: Obscures detailed individual performance, making it harder to distinguish between high and low performers accurately.

2. Potential for Misrepresentation: Scores can be misrepresented due to over-reliance on statistical adjustments, potentially leading to unfair outcomes.

3. Complexity and Lack of Transparency: The process is often complex and difficult for students to understand, leading to perceptions of unfairness.

4. Overemphasis on Statistical Parity: Can ignore differences in exam difficulty, disadvantaging students who took a harder or easier version.

5. Introduction of Bias: If not done correctly, normalization can introduce biases, especially if all relevant factors are not considered.

6. Reduced Motivation: Students may feel demotivated if they perceive their raw scores are significantly altered, reducing the perceived value of their effort.

7. Data Dependency: Relies heavily on the quality and quantity of data available. Poor-quality data can lead to incorrect adjustments and unfair results.

8. Diverse Exam Content: MD/MS exams cover fundamentally different content areas and competencies. Normalization assumes comparability of scores across different subjects, which is not applicable given the varied nature of the exams.

9. Potential for Over-correction: Excessive normalization may over-correct scores, diminishing the accuracy of performance assessment.

10. Loss of Original Score Integrity: Original scores may lose their integrity and meaning after normalization, affecting their reliability as a measure of performance.

Finally - Even if the paper is leaked and a candidate scores 200/200, normalization will make sure no one knows it.

Last but not least, has the statistical method been tested already in a group of the population and agreed to be unbiased? If not, how can it be applied in an exam to a large population, especially in an exam that means life or death to the students?

Respected @sanjayuvacha sir and @Vakeel_Sb bhai,

Tomorrow is hearing for our case regarding #NEETPG2024

Few points to consider :
1. DYC IS ALLERGIC TO POSTPONEMENT.
We shall be opening with irregularities by NMC and NBEMS which have caused issues to doctors since last 4+ years and they have gone unpunished every year.

2. Focus shall be about two shift examination and normalisation rule that will affect score of every other students and also opens up potential for manipulation. Govt/Court itself had rejected the same idea back in 2017 and we cannot allow this time.

3. Far away centres, having to travel hundreds and even thousands km away from home for examination and govt lied when they announced conduct of exam in two shift citing reason that they want most students to get centre in their own city or nearby location and its a lie, almost 60+ % people dint get desired centres.

4. 22nd june postponement was govt’s decision which already costed us 15-25k for travel and accommodation since exam was postponed 10hrs before exam, now we are supposed to pay same and even more for travel and accommodation for no fault of our own while risking our safety when half the country is flooded.

5. The govt or even CJI would say that its too late to take action as it will affect students who are travelling already, we can counter it because govt dint think of all this when they postponed the exam 10hrs before exam, if they can cancel then, they can cancel now to ensure everyone gets fair chance in single shift, same difficulty and nearby centres.

6. They could lie about lack of fund and lack of date till October, for that we can counter by asking them to take money for re-exam , everyone would be willing to pay another 3.5k because its still less than what we are paying for travel and accommodation in this climate.
As for October, it doesn’t matter, we are already late, we can wait even longer and they would try to lie about early counselling and we can show last year in same court they lied about early counselling and counselling started after 3-4 months.
There are already 3 batches admitted in colleges, they cannot accommodate any more before January 2025, so when there’s no counselling and admission, then no issue keeping exam in October.

7. Lastly they will keep on lying, aishwarya bhati and tushar would keep on lying as they have done past 4 years, hopefully you can counter their lies this time around by any means.
NBE/NMC/NBEMS are also bunch of pathological liars. They were warned last year as well by Telangana Hc but they still dint care last year as well, they just lied.

Lastly DYC sometime acts like defendant in NEET CASES. Hopefully you can convince him that students are suffering every year because of his unwillingness to punish the system. This cant go on forever.

Still with current govt in centre and same judiciary we have less faith in system, still praying and hoping for the best.
