The Opposition has demanded that the Indian Statistical Institute Bill, 2026 NOT be taken up in Parliament at this stage, but instead be referred to the Department-related Standing Committee on Finance for detailed examination. The Bill requires much wider consultation with all stakeholders before it is brought before Parliament. Given its far-reaching implications for one of India’s most premier institutions, it deserves careful scrutiny and deliberation. We are hopeful that the government will agree to this reasonable demand.

Indian Statistical Institute कोई सामान्य संस्थान नहीं है, लेकिन छात्रों ने बताया कि वहां धीरे-धीरे संस्थ���गत रूप से RSS का कब्ज़ा हो रहा है।

Bureaucratic और वैचारिक हस्तक्षेप थोपा जा रहा है। यहां तक कि Syllabus और Research को भी RSS की विचारधारा से नियंत्रित किया जा रहा है।

राहुल गांधी जी ने छात्रों को आश्वासन दिलाया है कि ह�� ऐसा नहीं होने देंगे। देश के शिक्षण संस्थान किसी विचारधारा से नहीं, बल्कि ज्ञान और विज्ञान से चलेंगे।

Hopefully, this demand will be accepted.

Between 2019 and 2024, only 16% of Bills were ever referred to Parliamentary Standing Committees. Between 2009 and 2014, under Dr. Manmohan Singh, 71% of Bills were referred to Parliamentary Standing Committees.

The Modi Government’s modus operandi has also been to refer bills to separate Joint Committees of Parliament headed by BJP MPs rather than to Parliamentary Standing Committees when they are chaired by Opposition MPs. It happened twice to Bills dealing with biodiversity protection and forest conservation. The latest instance is the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill 2025 which was deliberately not referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, then headed by Congress leader @OfficeOfDVS and instead referred to a Joint Committee headed by a BJP MP. In Dr Manmohan Singh’s tenure, even signature legislations like the now-bulldozed MGNREGA and the Land Acquisition Act of 2013 were referred to BJP Chairpersons like Kalyan Singh and Sumitra Mahajan.
