Former Head of the Sexual Offences Section and Homicide Prevention Unit at New Scotland Yard here. Serial killer Peter Sutcliffe was enabled by the police due to their own misogyny and Levi Bellfield was just like these three teenage r@pists. Neither of them started with murder. Turning r@pe victims away? WTF.
It’s important to take statements from EVERY victim. The whole picture is important for the investigation, charging and sentencing as well as risk assessment, management and diagnosis when in prison. As the former head of the Sexual Offences Section at New Scotland Yard, this is absolutely horrifying.

Hear me out: Remove Judge Nicholas Rowland. Three teenage boys gang r@pe two separate girls, are found guilty and he protects their future and says, “No-one need go to prison today.” EXCUSE ME? WHAT? What about the victims? This IS misogyny - the act of r@pe and the response by this Judge.

Accountability matters particularly at a time of increasing misogyny and male violence to girls and women. ENOUGH of professionals and systems backing up perpetrators 🤬💀

I was raped at 9 by boys aged 12-14. It has taken me the best part of 50 years of working on myself to recover from what they did and I still dissociate from time to time. This judge was reprehensible in his remarks and actions.

I’m still thinking about this. It’s great that this unduly lenient sentence is being reviewed BUT:
1. It should not take public outrage for this to happen in 2026;
2. The sentencing guidelines must be urgently reviewed;
3. Judge Nicholas Rowland must be removed. He chose to protect and praise serial rapists. No excuses. He must go.

“None of you need go to prison today” Excuse me? 11 counts of rape against two different girls and Judge Nicholas Rowland said this and “I should avoid criminalizing these children unnecessarily.”Unnecessarily? So targeting different girls, using a knife, gang rape and filming and posting it are not serious crimes? WTF? 🤬

They criminalized themselves. They are serial rapists who knew what they were doing and they filmed it.

Two girls now have to live with trauma forever. They deserve prison time and the Judge must be removed. He’s a misogynist and there’s no place on the bench for men like him at a time of increasing male violence to girls and women. Get him out 🤬

'The Katie Simpson review, commissioned by the Department of Justice, found "not one officer thought seriously about abuse/control" in the initial police investigation.'

Justice Minister Naomi Long delivered the findings of the review in the Northern Ireland Assembly on Tuesday. The minister encouraged those reading the report to "reflect on the missed opportunities, both for Katie and the agencies that encountered her and her abuser over many years". Long said the majority of the 16 recommendations were "policing focused".

"There is much room for improvement. Katie's death was concealed and staged as suicide and it is abundantly clear that investigative practices and mindsets must change," she said. "Within policing coercive control must be recognised as a serious and potentially lethal factor. Patterns of behaviour, not isolated incidents, must drive assessments of risk."
