@mchads_ This doesn't even do it justice. Neither Schwarber or Turner even had a pitch in the zone, and they still both managed to strike out. Truly phenomenal.
@AverageWIPFan@PhilliesJake Has nothing to do with Turner. Could easily be having BDLC/Hill starting out there and have Harper still at first and Bohm, GIDP machine, on the bench/AAA/outer space.
@imZachWaltz@PhilsTailgate True and true, but McFarlane would probably replace someone like Shugart, not Alvarado. Sure, Alvarado is cooked, but we have too few lefties.
@pguy78901018@JackFritzWIP Painter has a 7+ ERA, Nola 5+, and we have no alternatives if either (let alone the big 3) get injured. We could use a ready and tested SP just in case, and he can always be bulk relief like Shugart/Johnson. Why not, if the cost is negligible?
@shaun_nestor I can see the rationale between the lefty bat in place of a righty. His stats are basically the same against an LHP, and our defense has little been worst in the league, so maybe shaking it up isn't the worst thing in the world.
But not grabbing a starter... baffling.
@ArcainiLuke Well, yeah: Beyonce never said no to marrying me, either. When you don't ask the question, you don't give them the chance to say no so you don't have to deal with the resulting awkwardness/bad look/whatever.
@PhilliesJake They made two very solid trades... then just stopped. Even though we still lack a reliable 5th SP, even though you're repositioning the whole in-field, even though Bohm is still here. I don't get the half measures.
@FrankCianfrani It's both. Yeah, they could move Stott to SS and Trea to OF, but they also could just move Stott to 3rd and bench Bohm. They clearly want to keep the latter in the lineup for... reasons. More GIDP, I guess.
@hammerito Yeah, I don't get it. Instead of Stott to 3rd -> Bohm to 1st -> Harper to OF, should be Stott to SS -> Trea to OF. Fewer moving pieces and solves the SS issue, too.
@SleeperPhillies If so, hugely disappointing. The two trades made were great, but without anything else - nothing to solve the 5th slot in our rotation, nothing to accommodate the repositioning Arraez means, not a single other bat... what a let down.
@TimKellySports If moving Turner wasn't a consideration (???), was just putting Stott at third and benching Bohm one? Marsh + Crawford + BDLC with Hill and Sosa for or lefties isn't perfect, but it's not terrible.
