Today, #SCOTUS will hear a case that could severely criminalize homelessness.
Formerly incarcerated people are almost 10 times more likely to be homeless than the general public – and this ruling could devastate an already vulnerable population. 🧵
It's Earth Day! Can you help? We're building a robust air quality monitoring network in Chelsea. Want to host a monitor? There are 2 requirements: the monitors need to be installed outdoors at 10’ off the ground; and that we can occasionally access for maintenance. Msg us!
🚨If #SCOTUS rules in favor of Grants Pass, it will authorize cities and states to punish people forced to sleep outdoors with arrest and steep fines, even when they have no other safe option. We need housing solutions, not fines 🏘️. #HomelessnessIsSolvable#JohnsonVGrantsPass
NLIHC President @dianeyentel joined @naehomelessness 's Ann Oliva & @CenterOnBudget 's Peggy Bailey in a statement on how the Grants Pass v. Johnson SCOTUS case highlights the need for leaders to address homelessness w/ humane, proven strategies: https://t.co/wYWqz5B7zp
The Supreme Court is hearing a case literally today on whether it's legal to punish people who are unhoused for being homeless. It's not nothing to have the transit agency of the country's 3rd largest city say homelessness is not a crime as they answer a rider's genuine question.
SCOTUS just now in 8th am homelessness case: Justice Sotomayor, pressing lawyer for Grants Pass, OR, on why "stargazers" or people lying on the beach who fall asleep ("as I tend to do") are not arrested, but homeless people are.
Today the Supreme Court is hearing a case on whether or not homeless people can be punished for sleeping outside when there's no shelter space available.
This is the biggest case on the issue of homelessness in decades, and could de facto criminalize being homeless.
Paper published! Linking landlords to uncover ownership obscurity.
We develop a method to link property and corporate records and show how this reveals increasing consolidation of properties and responsibility for evictions and housing issues.

Don’t have a sample funded F31, F32, K99/R00? Well now you don’t need to know someone who got one to see one. Now sharing funded and completed grants with score sheets. Plan on adding funded R24s, R25s, and R01s soon (after co-PI and collaborators approve) https://t.co/NWWOIQuprE
