Thank you to the civil society organizations who filed amicus briefs in our case against NSO that secured the first permanent injunction ever issued against a spyware firm.
No single company can take on the spyware industry alone. Privacy and security advocates do critical work that makes accountability possible. We're grateful to be in this fight together:
Your answers will help us shape guidance and shared services prototypes that serve this community — not the corporations that sell to it.
Big thanks to the superrr Lab and @ChaynHQ for helping us with this project! <3
If your organisation directly supports #GBV survivors, we would love 10 minutes of your time to fill out an anonymous survey. The framing centres women but also includes sexual minorities and sex workers. https://t.co/LSy9INMOcs

@pressfreedom@dataRights_@HumanConstanta Our submission outlines States’ obligations, including the need for strict safeguards, independent oversight, and accessible remedies in cases of secret surveillance. Without these protections, spyware will continue to be used to silence journalists and shrink civic space.
Together with @pressfreedom, @dataRights_ + @HumanConstanta, we’ve filed an amicus brief before the European Court of Human Rights in cases concerning alleged spyware use against journalists and human rights defenders in Azerbaijan.

Last night the Franco-German news channel (Arte) announced that Taiwan is subject to 2k cyberattacks per minute, 2,64 million attacks per day.

Attending @fosdem? Us too! Don't miss the panel on #Interoperability enforcement! Let's look into translating #DMA enforcement into meaningful outcomes for people and entrepreneurs that do not build their business models on data exploitation. https://t.co/RkpHjIUn1B

Glad this is picked up, journalists are a primary target of spyware and Italy is the EU's spyware vendors and investors hub!
These tools haven't been leveraged yet and unlocking their full potential is essential to building an internet where users, not gatekeepers, hold the power. We aim to do just that <3
This week we're invited by @article19org to attend their symposium on DMA enforcement 🇪🇺!
The DMA, along with GDPR, offers two important tools to do that: interoperability and data portability. We will be here to focus on the technical & data levers!

⚠️During yesterday’s @Europarl_EN event hosted by @TheProgressives MEP Sandro Ruotolo on #spyware and the European Media Freedom Act, it was announced that a parliamentary #intergroup is currently being formed to continue the work of the 🇪🇺@EP_PegaInquiry.
Referring to #EMFA Art.4 cl.5 list of serious crimes, @dataRights_ Lori Roussey said: “In the name of intellectual property rights, we can actually unleash cybersecurity risks that put everybody's devices at risk.” Also, “environmental activists have been more & more sued based on organised crime reasons.”
This December, we’ll be back on stage at Europe’s most influential grassroots conference on technology, society, and digital rights, organised by the @CHAOSCOMPUTER19
This year, we will speak about spyware litigation in the EU. More here: https://t.co/uVZUtXCu4n

🎯 Hear hear! Particularly where it is not just about availability of sites and Signal. It is also our entire cybersecurity that has been outsourced to tech lords. That is, the bedrock that enables us to trust payment tools and communication channels. https://t.co/wvC75jP7Us
Digital sovereignty cannot be about breeding new toxic monopolies made in Europe.
It’s about empowering users, fostering interoperability and ensuring real choice.

🚨 Spyware is targeting civil society across Europe. We’re fighting back.
Today we presented the PEGA Coalition at EDRi.
We’re a group of NGOs taking legal action where governments have looked the other way.
